I wonder if Wang Chung's "Hypnotize Me" will not be played on AT40: The 80s? I'm pretty sure it debuted on AT40 in July 1987, and I am not sure if it lasted only one week or two, and I am not sure if Charlie Van Dyke sub-hosted while such song was on AT40? "Hypnotize Me" was on AT40 on 7/25 and 8/1/87. Casey hosted both weeks, so we might hear it. And if we do hear it, I'm assuming it's the version from the soundtrack to the movie Innerspace, rather than the album cut from Mosaic. As for those two shows--well, it's been said that Premiere is long overdue to air a regular show from July 1987. They also have a rather sizable gap in shows from the 6/27/87 show (played last year btw) to the 8/22/87 show...don't we have to assume they will start filling that in at some point?

Premiere has never in fact played a regular AT40 from July 1987, which is now the only such month through August 1988 remaining. However, two of the four countdowns were guest hosted. This could be the year they do that, though they haven't played 1987 since mid-April and waiting until late July is a pretty long gap, though not unprecedented (1987 was skipped for months last year, and just this week we're getting 1983 for the first time in three months). Maybe 7/4/87, if they don't run a special instead?

July 4, 1987 sounds likely to happen this year if we ever get to hear any of the two normal July 1987 broadcasts. It makes me wonder if July 4, 1987 was the week that there were only 2 debuts and the first debut didn't occur until way up at #33 (that being The Whispers' comeback hit "Rock Steady")?
And do remember that we went a long time without a "new" 1984 show. The April 7, 1984 broadcast last April was the first new 1984 show aired by Premiere since July 2011, if I recall - almost a 9 month gap. There were 1984 shows during that time, though they were reruns.

OldSchool, you do know that you can look up this information yourself, right? You can go to www.oldradioshows.com or www.umdmusic.com or the "Calendar" section of www.charismusicgroup.com & find out.

I know that "Just Like Heaven" was played as an Optional Extra, possibly one more than one occasion. Other than that, I don't believe so. Last fall there was a November 1972 countdown in which Rod Stewart's "Angel" was an OE.

I could of sworn I read somewhere that the only two shows from Fall 1979 with "Found a Cure" by Ashford & Simpson may not be aired. Is this true?

October 20 aired in 2011 (last 3 hours only) and again in 2012 as a B show (though I'm not sure if the first hour was offered as optional).

Have any AT40: The 70's/AT40: The 80's episodes ever played these not making the Billboard Hot 100 chart used for AT40 and never played by Casey at all due to not being released as singles songs as OPTIONAL EXTRAS in the past: "Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zepplin "Pinball Wizard" - Elton John "Isn't She Lovely" - Stevie Wonder "All My Love" - Led Zepplin "More Than a Woman" - Bee Gees "Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming (Too Good To Be True)" - Jermaine Jackson with Michael Jackson "Never Said Goodbye" - Bon Jovi "Edge of a Broken Heart" - Bon Jovi I know Madonna's 2 songs that never got releases as singles - "Into the Groove" and "Spotlight" - did get played as AT40: The 80's OPTIONAL EXTRAS in the past; Also: except for "Stairway to Heaven" and "Isn't She Lovely", the songs I mentioned in this post made the R&R CHR chart and maybe the top 40 of the Cashbox pop charts.

"Stairway to Heaven" was played for the first time as a LDD on the 4/26/80 show. Little longer than the Lp version of "Fool in the Rain" that is in this week's A show. Never played that Lp version which I caught on youtube after the show.

In 2002, “A Little Less Conversation” spent a single week on AT40 but its lone week was guest hosted by Ed McMann. Can’t remember if Casey mentioned it as a dropper the following week.
