On the latest Hot 100, Whitney Houston has 3 re-entries. "I Will Always Love You" re-enters the chart at #7, while "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" returns at #35. "The Greatest Love of All" comes in at #41.
Billboard will allow older songs to re-enter if they chart above #50.

I wonder if any of those songs will be played by Ryan Seacrest on a future AT40 broadcast? I seriously doubt it, though it would be nice.

Not unless he played one as an "In Memory..." extra or something like that.

If this is true, then "I Will Always Love You" becomes the 5th song to hit the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 twice following "The Twist", "Monster Mash", "Stand By Me", and "Bohemian Rhapsody".
Note: I'm not quite up to date with the Billboard Hot 100 for the past 10 years, so somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm sorry she died so young, but I've never been a fan of Whitney Houston's music. Sorry, folks....

On this week's World Chart Show, Lara Scott says the Jessie J song was influence by a Whitney Houston song. What was unusual is that Lara did not make note of Whitney's passing. I wonder if she was just trying to be tactful, or was the show recorded before Whitney died?

(I've seen Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" and Elton John's "Candle In The Wind" listed as well elsewhere, but those were of course different versions of the same song by the same artist, not the original recording recharting).

The only other major re-release charting I recall was 1990's re-release of 'Unchained Melody', which recharted alongside a remade 'UM".

"Unchained Melody" didn't hit the top 10 when it recharted in 1990. Neither did "Twist and Shout" in 1986 or "Do You Love Me" in 1988.
"Candle in the Wind" only charted once: a live remake in 1987. The original 1973 recording was never issued as a single here.
"Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" hit the top 10 in 1976, but it was a remake. The only other act to do this was the Ventures, who hit the top 10 in 1964 with a remake of "Walk, Don't Run."

You may have heard that the movie Titanic will be in theater re-release (in 3D form) in April and a "collectors edition" of the soundtrack will be issued. As part of the promotion, Celine Dion will make some TV appearances singing "My Heart Will Go On". I wonder if we'll see that charting again. (BTW, this also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the actual Titanic sinking.)
