Russell Arms, a one-hit wonder singer but who was best known as one of the four regular singers on the TV show "Your Hit Parade," died Monday (2/13/12) at his Hamilton, Illinois, home. He was 92.
Arms was the last surviving member of the lineup of singers who perfoermed on the 1950's TV show "Your Hit Parade." According to oldies expert Ronnie Allen, Dorothy Collins died in 1994, Snooky Lanson passed away in 1990 and Gisele MacKenzie went into music heaven in 2003.
"Your Hit Parade" was a TV show in which the singers sang the hits of the day. It wasn't really a countdown TV show though it would usually end with the top song of the day being sung.
Arms' only claim to fame on the music charts was the #17 "Cinco Robles (Five Oaks)" in 1957. Arms appeared in many TV shows, including "Perry Mason," "Dragnet," "Rawhide," "Have Gun, Will Travel" and "Gunsmoke."

"Your Hit Parade" was definitely a precursor to "American Top 40"-I remember seeing a short lived revival of "Your Hit Parade" in 1974-One of the regulars was Chuck Woolery who went on to become the original host of "Wheel Of Fortune" & the dating series "Love Connection".
