The AT40 -The 80's replayed the show from the week ending January 25, 1986. The number 1 song that week was "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne (Warwick) & Friends, a record whose proceeds were designed to raise money for AIDS research.
That was 26 years ago!!!!! Have we come any further since then in terms of battling this deadly disease?
One example is Magic Johnson, who contracted the HIV virus in 1991. More than twenty years later, he is still fairly healthy.
Feel free to chime in your perspective on this.

I don't think we have but that's just me. There are drugs that prolong the life but nothing that stops it. As far as Magic Johnson, I will say this delicately. I believe in God, am a born again Christian, and believe God can heal people from anything if that's what he wants to do. And I know (obviously) Johnson gave credit to God for doing so. But part of me has always wondered if he may have been misdiagnosed too. I don't know, it was over 20 years ago, and my recollection of procedures he went through and if he sought other opinions is very foggy. Again, not starting a religious war, not starting an argument, it's just something I've always wondered.
