Hi,
On the May 1, 1993 edition of Backtrax USA, a listener requested "Hands Up" by Ottawan and referred to it as "the theme song." What was "Hands up" the theme song to?
thanks

I've found references to "Hands Up (Give Me Your Heart)" being used in a Canadian commercial in the 90s, and another mention of being used for Club Med advertisements, presumably from the early 90s..

I know "Hands Up (Give Me Your Heart)" was remade by a group called Sway around 1987 or very early 1988. I think it was featured on the 1987 compilation "Hit After Hit" or another compilation album later in 1987.
And the original version by Ottawan did have a Caribbean feel to the song! No wonder it may have been used in the Club Med ads!
Ottawan's song was featured on a 1989 or 1990 compilation album in Canada. Funny, as I would have thought Ottawan was a Canadian group from - where else? - Ottawa.
And I didn't know Backtrax USA existed in the early 1990s. I know, when the top 40 station formerly known as Magic 97 (now a Classic Rock radio station known as K-ROCK) used to play Backtrax USA as early as 1997 up to the end of 2000, and it was devoted to 2 hours of 1980s music. Maybe Backtrax USA was devoted to 1970s music in the early 1990s or something.
HITS-FM picked up Backtrax USA around 2007, and by that time, it was a 4-hour broadcast - devoting the first half to 1980s music, and the latter half being devoted to 1990s music. Maybe Backtrax USA will play music from 2000-2009 by 2017 or something.
