Hi,
I am not sure why I never posted this sooner, but did anyone notice that for Rick Dees top 98 of '98 Hot AC version, they simply ran the same countdown as the CHR version. They simply replaced certain songs that were not conducive to HOT AC stations with songs that were more HOT AC friendly. I listened to the show on WPLJ, and instead of # 92 being "Mo Money Mo Problems" by Notorious BIG, it was "You get what you give." They also stuck in "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac and "Ooh La la" by Rod Stewart much later in the countdown. That's a pretty tacky way to run a countdown of 2 different genres.

Rick's Hot AC show was like this throughout the 90's, pretty much. It was very sloppy, though in the 00's it improved.

That same thing has been done in End Year 2011 and the 1st show of January 2012 . Same shows for both editions.

Particularly disappointing with the top 40 of 2011 show.

Agreed, they'd never done that before. Are they running out of HAC stations to service?

My guess would be it's the other way around...they're running out of CHR stations. Hence, more focus on the HAC show than when it first started, and also the dawn of the AC show (interesting timing there too in that it wasn't too long after AT10 ended that Dees started this).

Speaking of which, is the AC version of Rick Dees still around? I never hear much about the show and you don't hear it on his website.

Anyone happen to remember what Rick's Top 98 of 1998 was? I'm looking at AT40's right now, and I can't help but notice that...from what I can remember of when Rick's chart was posted online several years back, quite a few songs look like they're in the exact same position. It actually makes me wonder if all Rick did was, take R&R's year-end chart, manipulated a few songs (in particular, "Iris", "My Heart Will Go On", and "Torn"), and BAM! There's his year-end chart.

I seem to recall Torn was #1. Beyond that, I do not remember.
