Wow. All those musicians have died in 2011. Nick Ashford, Gerry Rafferty, Andrea True, Dobie Gray, Heavy D., etc.
When I saw this thread title, the first thing that came to mind was Amy Winehouse. Although she did die so young, her death didn't surprise me one bit.

There was a songwriter named Ralph Mc Donald who passed away before Christmas-He wrote "Where Is The Love" which was a hit for Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway in 1972 as well as "Just The Two Of Us" which was a top five hit in the spring of 1981 for Grover Washington Jr & Bill Withers.

Billboard did an online list of artists we lost in 2011. Here's who they DON'T MENTION:
- Rob Grill of the Grass Roots - John King from the Outsiders - Don Kirshner - Eugene McDaniels - Wardell Quezerque (producer of "Groove Me" & "Mr. Big Stuff) - Ronnie Hammond of the Atlanta Rhythm Section - Andrea True - Andrew Gold
just to name a few.

I'm grateful that a particular British superstar did NOT make this list considering how he gravely sick he was last month: George Michael. I hope he makes a speedy recovery.
I say this because there was a report in the Huffington Post in which an American Christian blogger had the audacity to PRAY FOR HIS DEMISE!! Thank the Lord above he didn't answer HIS prayers.
