5 weeks after the Gibbs became the second family to have 3 solo artists hit the top 40 in this week's show, the Jacksons became the third family to do so when Rebbie Jackson hit with "Centipede". The first such family was the Osmonds and what Casey mentioned once about them was equalled by the Jacksons well sort of. The Osmonds hit the top 40 in 5 different billings...as a group, with the 3 solo artists and in a sibling duet. On the R&R chart, the Jacksons pulled that off in 1984 alone. The Jacksons as a group(who are spending their last ever week in the top 40 this week), the 3 solo artists and the sibling duet of Michael and Jermaine on "Tell Me I'm not Dreaming". Of course Janet and then Michael and Janet dueting will get their total to 7 by 1995. Like that first LDD. Wish they had done more of those type LDDs following up previous ones. CT40 would make that a regular feature. But the writer made a mistake in saying the original LDD was from a gal in Kansas. She was from Minnesota. Said LDD was aired on the 11/22/80 show. 2 weeks in a row we have had a "Do it or Die" LDD. The first subject has been mentioned in posts today. The reason Barry Gibbs duets with Babs were not counted by Casey is that he was only counting totally solo efforts.

"I'm so Excited" is an example of how danceable songs had a stiff headwind to contend with in 1982. Other such hits that probably should have charted higher were "Forget Me Nots", "Jump to it" and "1999". The latter was also re-released and became a solid hit the second time. The one artist who defied the trend was Evelyn King who had suffered the same fate as the aforementioned songs a year earlier with "I'm in Love". But in 1982 she got that solid hit with "Love Come Down".

"What About Me" by Kenny Rogers,Kim Carnes & James Ingram was one of the featured entries on this week's presentation from 10/13/84-Casey pointed out that there were two other instances of three singers who teamed up for one song:The first was "The Teen Commandments" by Paul Anka,George Hamilton IV & Johnny Nash (1959)-The second was "What A Wonderful World"-Art Garfunkel,Paul Simon & James Taylor (1978)-In 1994,there was a trio of singers who teamed up for a song that went to # 1-That song was "All For Love" which was performed by Sting,Rod Stewart,& Bryan Adams. In 2003, Casey did a story on that (at least mentioning the 1994 incident) when Nelly, P. Diddy(!) and Murphy Lee teamed up for the #1 hit "Shake Ya Tailfeather." Edit: Rick Dees also told the same story in 2003.

So KOLA is about to drop the show as of next weekend? It looks like there might have been changes to the website and the AT40 page got messed up. It now includes some content from another show. The 80's Show? Backtrax USA? Some other 1980's radio show hosted by Nina Blackwood?

There's no mention of another show taking Casey's place.

Lol at Casey pronouncing Madonna’s last name as “Siss-oh-nee” instead of “Ciccone” (chick-oh-nee).

KOLA has this coming weekend’s show posted, but not next week’s. And after last week I’m not sure if we’ll still get shows revealed nearly two weeks in advance from them anymore.
Next weekend we do get 10/17/87, the first 1987 standalone in four months. Not a single song on this show was on the last 1987 A, though both end with one-week #1s from the same act (Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam with Full Force.)
And this is the third week in a row when we get a countdown with Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called To Say I Love You.” It was an LDD on both 10/17/87 and 10/4/86, and in between we heard the show on which it hit #1.

Somebody at Premiere must not like Debbie Gibson. By not featuring 1987 as an "A" show from 6/20/87 to this week's 10/17/87 show, Premere skipped over Debbie's entire 16 week run of "Only In My Dreams" on AT40! And... by featuring 10/17/87, it's the week that "Only In My Dreams" falls out of the Top 40 while "Shake Your Love" is one week away from being featured on AT40. Hmmmmm... This might demand an AT40 Investigation ... For those of you anxious to know when the next '87 show might be featured, I say try not to worry about it... and when you least expect it, we'll hear an '87 show with Debbie Gibson in it out of the blue... I think I better stick with my day job...
