Last time Premiere had August 20, 1983, as an A show was 2011, 13 years ago.

Keri Tombazian, the first female voice behind the AT40 mike, sat in for Casey on 8/13/83. In fact, her other AT40 show (4/16/88) preceded another 2024 program, 4/23/88. Other 2024 programs that originally aired after guest hosts: 1/17/87, 1/18/86, 3/17/84, 4/3/82, 4/23/83, 7/16/88, 7/21/84, and this weekend’s 8/17/85.

And for the A show of 8/8/1981: Are one of the OPTIONAL EXTRAS "When She Was My Girl" by the Four Tops to pay tribute to the last surviving Four Driedel, uh, fidget spinner, oh - FOUR TOP! - member who died recently? Yes. This week's optional extras: A: August 8, 1981:Hour #1: "When She Was My Girl" - The Four Tops (NR) Hour #2: "I Could Never Miss You (More Than I Do)" - Lulu (#59) Hour #3: "In Your Letter" - REO Speedwagon (#82; debuted) Hour #4: "The Voice" - The Moody Blues (#56; highest debut) B: August 15, 1987:Hour #1: "Don't Look Down - The Sequel" - Go West (#71) Hour #2: "U Got The Look" - Prince with Sheena Easton (#54) Hour #3: "Carrie" - Europe (#46) Hour #4: "Who Will You Run To" - Heart (#64; debuted) "When She Was My Girl" was also used as a tribute OE on the 8/15/87 show, replacing "U Got The Look" in Hour #2. Unusual but good move since it was their only hit of the 1980's and therefore was the only way to let listeners of 8/15/87 hear the tribute.

I thought it was a nice touch playing the Four Tops tribute extra going into Hr 3 even though they are airing 1987.

I would not be surprised if "Lonely Ol' Night" John Cougar Mellencamp, which is one week away from the countdown, is an optional extra next week. Nope, extras are unchanged.

Even though Casey makes a mistake in saying that Rick Springfield first hit the top 40 in 1971(it was 1972), Rick is still one of 9 artists in Casey's first run on AT40 who hit the top 40, had at least a 5 year drought before hitting the top 40 a second time with that one being a #1 hit. Dire Straits are a few weeks from becoming the 8th artist to pull that off. The other 7 artists to do it were Carole King, Al Wilson, Robert John, Pink Floyd, Bonnie Tyler, Billy Ocean and Steve Winwood.
