Very much agree regarding Berlin -- "No More Words" and "The Metro" were both better songs, as was another well known non-top 40 hit "Masquerade". As for Nu Shooz, I am a big fan of both "Point Of No Return" and "I Can't Wait", but I wouldn't say the former is a better song at all than the latter. I've always been a big fan of "I Can't Wait"...just IMHO. (also as a footnote, I am a big fan of their 1988 top 40 near-miss "Should I Say Yes") Amazed that with all of this Berlin talk that no one has mentioned the one and only "Sex (I'm a...)" The only Berlin 45 I own.
You own one more Berlin record than I do. The only thing Berlin related I have is an autograph sheet of paper I got from the band when they made an appearance at a local Record Factory store in SF back in the early 80's. I still have it, too.

Yeah! I’m so happy that “Holiday” by The Other Ones is an extra. It’s such a great albeit obscure weird song. But it’s so d**n catchy.

Related to the same countdown, whether it's unpopular or not I'll say that Berlin's earlier "No More Words" and "The Metro" (not a top 40 hit) are much better songs than the boring chart topper "Take My Breath Away". As for Nu Shooz they narrowly avoided being a one bit wonder band but just barely.

On this weekend's presentation from 9/17/83,Casey mentioned there were 14 different song titles that described a specific type of girl like "Diamond Girl","Calendar Girl" & David Bowie's then current hit "China Girl"-A 15th song title would soon make that list:"Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel.

September 26, 1987 optional extras:
"Holiday" - The Other Ones "Brilliant Disguise" - Bruce Springsteen "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" - Belinda Carlisle "Should've Known Better" - Richard Marx
"Brilliant Disguise", which entered the Hot 100 the following week at #40, replaces Squeeze's "Hourglass".

It's been two months since the last 1984 standalone so I'll predict 9/29/84 for the weekend of September 30.

It's been two months since the last 1984 standalone so I'll predict 9/29/84 for the weekend of September 30. Pretty good guess, since (1) it last aired in 2019, and (2) that was the only other airing besides the original run in 2007.

Fortunately, like so many other artists gone too soon, he left a bank of great material to continue his legacy.

Fortunately, like so many other artists gone too soon, he left a bank of great material to continue his legacy. I recall hearing on the radio, that Croce had died in a plane crash, right about the time I celebrated my 13th birthday. I always liked the song I Got A Name and thought Jim wrote it (since he wrote a lot of his material) but was surprised to learn many years later that he did not. The song is from a movie that starred Jeff Bridges--The Last American Hero (another fun fact I never knew).
