Interesting to note that next week's presentation from 3/12/88 has two Bruce Springsteen songs as optional extras:"One Step Up" & "Pink Cadillac" by Natalie Cole-"One Step Up" was the third release from Springsteen's then current album "Tunnel Of Love" while "Pink Cadillac" originally appeared on the B-side of "Dancing In The Dark" in 1984.

I am predicting 3/19/83 for the week of March 18. It last aired in 2012; I really can't see it being anything else.

Disappointed that 4/3/1982 will have to wait another year, but I imagine that Premiere didn't want to wait too much longer to air a 1982 show.

You'll notice that Nikita Khrushchev appeared twice on the 3/8/86 show, in the stretch story told to tie in with "Nikita" by Elton John and in the lyrics to "Russians" by Sting. As a big Disney fan I found the story about Khrushchev not being allowed to go to Disneyland interesting. His visit to the U.S. was in September 1959. At that time I believe the park was closed on Mondays (I know it was in "off-season" but I'm not sure if off-season started the day after Labor Day or later than that) so if the problem was his safety they could have had him come back to Southern California on a Monday and given him a personal tour. I do wonder whether it really was about ensuring his safety or whether notoriously Anti-Communist Walt Disney wouldn't let him visit.

We all are entitled to our opinions but except for a few early 1980 shows, the playlist for March 1982 is one of my least favorites of the whole decade. Many songs on there did not carry over their popularity very well. I was only 5 years old then, which probably is the reason I don’t care for the chart, but I’m only familiar with maybe half the songs. At least in most of 1980 and 1981, the songs were played on the radio more as the decade went on.

So how do you you know whether you like the half you're not familiar with other than by listening to them? This would be like me offering an opinion on a 1963 or 1964 chart, when I was five. I only know maybe half of the songs on them. But I make it a point to listen to Dave Hoeffel on ''60s Gold' on Saturdays when his ''60s Satellite Survey' is from the first half of the decade, as well as when it's from the latter half where I know (and love) most of the songs. And by listening to those early '60s chart countdowns I've grown to know and appreciate a whole bunch of music I wasn't previously familiar with.

As far as being 5 years old...I turned 5 in August 1978 and that next year of music is among my favorites. To each their own as they say...

Wasn't 1982 the year of a lot of many week chart position holders and a lot of droppers falling from high posititons from the top 40 reaches - including the top 10?

1982 was, IMO, the most incredible/ridiculous year in terms of chart stats during the classic Casey era; several songs holding at their peak for several weeks, and large drops out of the top 40, 20, and even 10 (highest is 6).
In terms of music preferences recently discussed, I was just a toddler in 1978, and yet that is the beginning of what I call my musical sweet spot. I remember many of the songs that Casey counted down (though I didn't regularly listen to AT40 until June 1984).
We also have some on here who love music from years before they were even born (yep, me included). We're all different, and that's beautiful, as long as we can all respect each other's opinions. 🙂
