No surprise here -- 5/17/86 has aired twice before, the most recent of which was the weekend of May 16-17, 2015. Optional extras were: Hour #1: "Stand By Me" - Ben E. King (NR) Hour #2: "Your Wildest Dreams" - The Moody Blues (#49) Hour #3: "Danger Zone" - Kenny Loggins (#60) Hour #4: "Sledgehammer" - Peter Gabriel (#76) Note that the "Stand By Me" extra was played as a tribute to Ben E. King, who had passed away on April 30th. A good bet that one gets replaced with the typical song climbing the Hot 100. Extras: Hour #1: "One Hit (To The Body)" - Stoners Hour #2: "Your Wildest Dreams" - The Moody Blues Hour #3: "Danger Zone" - Kenny Loggins Hour #4: "Sledgehammer" - Peter Gabriel

I heard the second half of the 7/17/82 show last night-Mark Elliott did a yeoman job filling in for Casey.

for Jul 17, 1982 notes KZOY: abe lincoln in white house, struggled to spend the night: Willie nElson I wonder IF one reason that Premiere picked 7/17/1982 is because of CNN's documentary Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President from earlier this year...

I wonder IF one reason that Premiere picked 7/17/1982 is because of CNN's documentary Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President from earlier this year... I fail to see what that would really have to do with anything? On the 80s side, they had two choices: 7/17 or 10/2/82. At least with 7/17 there's some slight musical carryover, with hits that would have been up-and-coming in May still hanging around in mid-July, versus October where there would have been none at all.

Probably relating to the story about Willie Nelson being friends with Carter and visiting the White House. But I don't think that's why Premiere chose it; it's one of only two Mark Elliott hosted AT40s from the 1980s, the other being 10/2/82 (not counting the CT40s from 1989.)

Listening to 1986 now on WWIS...Casey just announced the tops of Billboard's other charts before #8! Is that the earliest he ever did that?

It's only an interesting coincidence, observation, hypothesis, fun fact or whatever, that's why I'd phrased it as "I wonder IF..."!

Among classic-run shows, I only know for sure of this being a three-way tie: This week, the following week (5/24), and 2/20/88. There...might? Be one where he read them before #9, but off the top of my head I can't think of which week that'd be. He'd break this mark during his second run, however - on 5/9/98, he reads "other" #1s before #12!

This week’s 1986 show has the elusive #39 jingle! So every number had a jingle except for the number 1 which was always preceded by a drumroll?
