No update from KOLA FM yet, I guess. I hope 1986 holds off until the weekend before Christmas weekend so that the not yet played by Premiere 12/20/1986 AT40 episode gets played on AT40: The 80's. From KOLA: December 1, 1984. Show was aired in 2013. I actually had 12/1/84 penciled in a few months back, but thought they'd go with something else. Lots of 1984 this year, but no complaints here...

When the 12/1/84 aired in 2013, these were the optional extras:
Hour #1: "Missing You" - Diana Ross Hour #2: "The Boys Of Summer" - Don Henley Hour #3: "Foolish Heart" - Steve Perry Hour #4: "Loverboy" - Billy Ocean

If what AMFMDX said was true, then, seeing that 12/1/84 is on deck for next wee, that virtually means that the rest of my predictions for the year are pretty much in the bag - even the 12/10/83 show for the same week this year, since all the rest of the years have had a turn besides the new shows coming up in late December. And, as I suggested, it also means that the year-ender of 1982 is considered new on the technicality that I mentioned.
I predict that we'll hear 11/30/85 and 12/27/86 at the end of next year. Other than that - it's pretty much nothing but repeats for the last four and a half months (hopefully, many of them will be from 2007).

Update for a 2nd edition of Pete's '80s book. On the 11-21-87 show, Casey gave the peak of Tusk at #7, when it actually hit #8.

Not just this year, but for two years straight. 1984 seems to get a lot of love across the board. With December 1, 1984 scheduled for next weekend, I think that might most likely yield a February 1984 show come February. Either a repeat of the 18th or the 25th that has yet to air most likely. I think there's a pretty good chance of a December 1986 show this year. If December 13, 1986 is scheduled for the weekend of December 10, there might still be a chance of getting the Top 100 of 1986 after Christmas, the same way we had the Top 100 of 1984 last year, only three weeks after hearing the December 8, 1984 broadcast.

I love the song "Breakout". I just wish I could find it somewhere. Itunes, anywhere.

1984 may be getting a lot of love of late, but it was almost nonexistent in the first half this year - only two "A" shows (2/11 & 5/5). Of course, since the start of July, we've had five (including the upcoming 12/1 airing). So with seven airings this year, that's about even. Finally caught up to 1985. (Which may see one more show this year, hopefully 12/28, on Christmas weekend.)

I love the song "Breakout". I just wish I could find it somewhere. Itunes, anywhere. It's on a few 80s compilation CDs, like "Rock Of The 80s". If I dare direct you to a store that still sells CDs - yeah, I know, that's so 2000. But otherwise, check Amazon MP3s - not sure what you can get up there.

I doubt that 1986 is coming up that weekend, dth1971. As I said, I have a strong feeling that the predictions I made last month (from December 10 on) are correct - unless AMFMDX miscounted.

To which I am hoping for 12/10/1983 that weekend. That'll complete my December 1983 collection. I'd rather wait to get 1986 - hopefully the 12/20 show is on tap. (We had the other 12/20 show that weekend last year, 1980!)

I love the song "Breakout". I just wish I could find it somewhere. Itunes, anywhere. Last time I checked iTunes (just yesterday), they had one or two Swing out Sister "Greatest Hits" collections available, so you should be able to get "Breakout" from there.

We're almost ten full years into the series, and we still have a small handful of unaired shows left, although not many from the early and late parts of the year. With the calendar the way it is this year and next (meaning the year-end shows will start later), hoping all those really late shows from 1985 & 1986 get aired (namely, the 12/28 & 12/27 shows, respectively). I don't think there's a better time to slot those.
If AT40 had compiled their own countdown instead of Billboard, I wonder if they would've done it on those weekends (like 1983 & 1984) instead of the first weekend of the new year (1985-1987).

No it was scheduled based on when the frozen week occurred. If they had done in 1985-87 as you suggested, they would have no chart to countdown the following week because that was the frozen week. They did the year end survey to coincide with the frozen week so they would always have a Hot 100 chart for the regular shows airing.
