CHARLES DICKENS' 'A CHRISTMAS CAROL' read by PATRICK STEWART (Audiobook Published by Simon & Schuster)

This was released in 1992 while Stewart was riding high with 'Star Trek TNG'. Except for the old radio versions by Lionel Barrymore I can't think of a more perfect voice for Dickens!

FIBBER MCGEE & MOLLY; THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
A personal favorite of mine! When I was very young my mother had this on a set of four 78rpm records and played it every Christmas Eve. Over the years it was forgotten and when I came upon it a few years ago two of the records had unplayable cracks in them. So I was elated when I found this on YouTube.

Pete B, did you catch the intro by Dennis Daily to the first Paul Harvey cut? His call to ABC?

Paul Harvey's The Man and the Birds has been one of my all time favorites and every year it brings a tear to my eye when I hear it for the first time.

Also speaking of tears, the other week I acquired the 12/25/1993 show with Shadoe Stevens in which he reads a Long Distance Dedication from a six year old. The whole letter (actually two letters) is explained in Rob Durkee's book and that was the only time that a record was not played after a LDD.

I don't believe I have ever heard this before. Or knew of its existence. Of course, Paul Harvey had a longtime ABC affiliation out of Chicago. So did this air on Top 40-based and ABC o&o WLS in Chicago? Knowing the station suspended contemporary music on Christmas Eve, I'd have to assume they did. My next question, did this special air annually during the 60s, or was it a one-time broadcast? Regardless, it's well-executed drama.
