KBZC-FM in Sacramento flipped their formats last Friday from All 90's to Music from the Millenium era. Specializing in contemporary music from the Millennium era, the station will target 25- to 44-year-old adults. Star 106.5's music from the 2000's includes artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, Nickelback, Bruno Mars, Train, Adele, Coldplay and Lifehouse. "You won't find any sleepy, tired songs," said Station Manager and Program Director Dan Mason. "Nothing too hard or edgy. And, there will be a lot of it!" The newest decade to be added in oldies/throwback radio? Frankly, I think the 2000s are too recent to be given the nostalgia treatment, though it sounds as if there will be a lot of currently charting hits in there.
It doesn't sound like it'll be much different from a standard Hot AC or AC-leaning CHR, except for probably a higher proportion of older/recurrent songs.
