As a relative newbie, I was wondering what the difference is between Flashback shows and XM shows? Is it just that they are an hour shorter, or are there other differences as well?

"AT40 Flashback" was a syndicated show through Premiere that ran from 2000-2002. It was old AT40 with Casey Kasem shows from the 80's re-released to terrerestrial radio. The shows started out as 4 hours in length but quickly shrunk to 3, with a message from Casey at the beginning saying "we're jumping into this weeks countdown at #32/#31/#30" (wherever Hour 2 began), mainly because a lot of the songs from Hour 1 of those shows were oblivious to many.
The show was dropped at the end of 2002 when Premiere was doing some cuts and many other shows got the axe as well.
XM Satelite Radio runs rebroadcasts of old AT40 shows from the 70's and 80's in their entirety on the respective 70s and 80s channels. Also, Premiere has recently revived the old shows once again for terrerestrial radio in the form of "Casey Kasem's American Top 40: The 70's" and "Casey Kasem's American Top 40: The 80's", both broadcasting the shows in their entirety.
