Yes. Now there will be a 70's version, and an 80's version available for AM/FM stations weekly. I haven't heard the details yet - such as the 3 vs 4 hour show. It would be GREAT if they made the number of hours a local station choice and supplied all 4 hours of the program. This would be very easy to do with todays CD/FTP delivery and there is almost no downside. There might be some stations that either want to air all 4 hours of the program, and might even go so far as to pass on a 3 hour edited version of the program.
I know I wouldn't want to ok a 3 hour show when a satellite competitor was airing a complete 4 hour show. I always like to air programs better than pay sat radio does it.
Sounds like once we get the 90's version out there we'll be all set. ;D

WMGA is in Huntington, West Virginia! And yes, home to the Herd!
Anyway, checking out their website, already they are promoting "AT40 The 80's" on the front page; first show is Sunday, April 8th.
More good news, their stream involves pop-up WMP with crystal-clear stereo sound! Assuming they are able to play the AT40 shows (unlike a certain station in Ohio!), they should be fun to listen to!

The 80's show will be a four hour format. I'm about to screen the 1985 and 1987 demos. Shannon Yes. Now there will be a 70's version, and an 80's version available for AM/FM stations weekly. Is there an official website? I know Premiere used to have a website that showcased "Flashback" to prospective stations. If they still have such a thing, I could, we could, forward that info to our area PD's.

I can now let you know what while "AT40 Flashback" isn't returning, "Casey Kasem's American Top 40: The Eighties" begins this weekend (April 7-8, 2007). The show is formatted just like "Casey Kasem's American Top 40: The Seventies." It features some intros and optional extras voiced by Ed McMann. Other than that, it's the original show as you heard it. Casey's 2007 voice is NOT heard. Also, the show is the full FOUR hours (not three) although the first hour appears to be optional as it contains no commercials.
See the "AT40: The 80s" thread for more info on this week's show.

The one thing I do not understand about these shows is why Ed McMann voices the intro and outro, as well as the optional extra. Casey did these duties on AT40 Flashback, and he is still doing his current shows with Premiere. I do not understand why he does not seem to be a part of the new 70's and 80's shows.

I was wondering about another topic concerning the show. Supposedly one of the reasons why the AT40 Flashback show was canceled was the fees Premiere had to pay Billboard for use of the old chart data. What changed? What made them suddenly more affordable so that they could do a 70s and an 80s show?

Probably a matter of Casey's voice just sounding too different in 2007 than it did in, say, 1985, and especially in, say, 1971. However, I'd have preferred it if they'd done at least a Casey-voiced intro like XM does..."Hi, this is Casey Kasem and this week I'm taking you back to [year]."

Is Casey's 2007 voice that much different than his 2002 voice was for AT40 Flashback? While it has changed a bit, I don't think the difference is that noticeable.

Check out the message about the HD radio Clear Channel AT40 Streaming Audio just posted on this message board. That seems to be the new home of AT 40 Flashback. Just finished Nov 1, 1980 and now playing Nov 19, 1983. Great sound if you like Flashbacks.
