I'm interested in hearing what people do to listen to or record AT40 the 70s and 80s (or any other show you are interested in). I myself have 4 options. I can listen or record terrestrial on WYXB in Indianapolis. I record using a " radioSHARK" hooked up to my computer and save to WMA. I also use my iPod listen or record. I rarely listen to the radio on the computer, as the iPod is used for music around the house with headphones or a good dock. Most of the time I record on my iPod, with the TuneIn radio app. Please answer the poll, and let us know what you do.

For recording, I use Audacity.
For listening, I often catch one or a couple streams, but I do still listen over-the-air on WCRZ (thus, my username) and sometimes also on WIDL (if I decide to get up that early).

I have modified my original post. I forgot to mention the Radio Shark. Have you heard of it, CRZ? It plugs into your computer via USB, and acts as a tuner/antenna for AM and FM stations. It really makes a good recording.

I record on my iPhone using the TuneIn app. Then I listen to the show during the week on my bus commutes.
I use to record off of terrestial radio, but then I haven't been able to do that in a while.

I record the SiriusXM shows thru my computer using the convert LP's to MP3 software (I have my stereo hooked into the computer so I can record anything played thru the stereo, LP's, cassettes, radio etc). I haven't yet recorded the Premiere shows but just downloaded the TuneIn app for my iTouch. Now the question I have is can I pull the recording from the iTouch somehow? Can I play it thru iTunes later on?

I haven't looked for a way to do this, yet, but I'm sure you can use a program on your computer to extract files from that directory. TuneIn doesn't want you to do that, however, so anything you do would be somewhat illegal.

I usually record using DAR.FM Just set up to try recording crankinoldies at: www.crankingoldies.com/crankin-128.m3u128kbps commercial-free (keeping my fingers crossed that it works since I just set it up).

Record the streaming on a PC using Adobe Audition right through all 3 or 4 hours and then cut the ads off, resaving the final file as high bitrate mp3. (that's where the cuesheets come in really handy to find out where the ad breaks are, thanks to those who continue to post where to find them!) Thought of doing FLAC for archival purposes but not really worth it for the bitrate the streams come in at.

Started recording OFF-air from Jack FM at the beginning of 2008 using a boom-box; when WINC came along, started recording on my stereo but now that they no longer air it, its back to Jack FM and the boom-box. Occasionally Jack 'may' come in good enough to record on the stereo.

I also use Total Recorder. I like how you can set the timer and also edit things out later. I normally find a stream here on this site. ( A Godsend by the way). There is one site listed here, Philly I think that plays a commercial free stream. I only have about 100 or so shows so far.
Again I can't believe what a great site and forum you have created here. I love it!

For a while, I recorded audio using Audacity. It records material from any site, such as YouTube, and it beats having to download from a "virus pool" site such as the now-defunct Limewire.
However, I haven't been recording using Audacity since I got my new computer last June, because I don't know how to enable the ability to record audio at all. I don't even have any ability to record using Sound Recorder either. So I guess downloading from 4Shared.com or YouTube is the route for me to go.

I still have XP on my main computer, so I record through Audacity. There is no station in my area that airs either the 70s or 80s show, so have to go online. Really is getting tough finding a good feed now that WFMX has pulled their overnight replays of AT40.

I use total recorder and record both versions of AT40, the HAC version of the WT40, Country Top 40, and AT40: The 70s/80s on a weekly basis. I've been using TR since 2002
