A couple from the mid 1970's that I liked were "Edge of the Universe" by the Bee Gees (flip of Nights on Broadway) and "Brand New Love Affair" by Jigsaw (flip of Sky High). "Edge" was later released as a single, although it was the live version. I'm thinking "Love Affair" was also released later as a single, but can't remember for sure.
For the record, I thought they were both good songs before their eventual releases!

Many of Elton's B-Sides are amazing:
Skyline Pigeon (Piano Version, Flip to Daniel) Young Man's Blues (Flip to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road) Sick City (Flip of pregnant dog Is Back) House Of Cards (Flip to Someone Saved My Life Tonight) Whenever You're Ready, We'll Go Steady Again (Flip to Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting) Hey Papa Legba (Flip to Blue Eyes) Conquer The Sun (Flip to Little Jeannie) One Day At A Time (Flip to Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds)
ALL worth checking out BTW with I think all of them on Youtube.
