This one might be for ones who work in radio.
In late 2000, AT40/AT20 with Casey Kasem network name changed from AM/FM to Premiere Radio. During that time Premiere changed the CDs. I know the labeling was changed. However, did Premiere attempt to have the audio on the CD erased if played a few times. Or the quality of the CDs were in terrible shape that some radio stations had trouble airing AT40/AT20? Sometime in 2001, Premiere had to return to putting the show out on regular CDs again to stop the problem of silent gaps in the show for some stations.
Someone brought that discussion up to me this weekend. I don't know if this was true or not. However, it did bring up my curiosity.

I suppose it would be possible, and I wouldn't put it past them, but I have never heard anything of this, or of CD's with that capability.

I have original cds through the change from AMFM to Premiere. Here's a timeline of changes:
The last envelope to arrive with the AMFM logo was for the show dated 11-4-00.
The cds retained their same labels and appear to be the same make of cds through 12-2-00. On 12-2-00, the cue sheets change to have Premiere's logo rather than AMFM.
The first show to come in the now familiar Premiere AT40 envelope was the 12/9/00 show. That is also the show where the cd labels change and no longer have the multiple colors and Casey's signature. The brand of cd also apparently changes as well.
The brand of cds seemed to fluctuate in January 2001. I counted at least 3 different brands of cds used.
I didn't have time to examine the brands of cds used through mid 2001, when my original cds run out.
It may be that the one of brands of cds used was of poor quality and caused the cds to fail.

When did the custom show envelopes stop? Up until a few months ago when we switched to receiving the show via the FTP downloads, we just got our shows in a plain DHL Express envelope. In fact, the only shows in our station cluster that still come in the custom envelopes are Flashback! and Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40. The rest are just bubble mailers.
