Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People has been staying at # 3 for 7 consecutive weeks (Billboard Hot 100 as of October 22, 2011). www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDTZ7iX4vTQI believe that this now becomes the longest stay at # 3. The former record, 6 consecutive weeks at # 3, was held by Stop Draggin' My Heart Around (in October 1981).

While not the same chart or publication, it's notable that "3 AM" by Matchbox 20 peaked at #3 in Radio & Records for 9 weeks in 1998. It reached that position on one of the last Casey's Top 40 shows and was still there for the first several weeks of the revived AT40.

10/29 HOT 100 update: 'Pumped Up Kicks' remains at #3 for the 8th consecutive week. That ties the song with "Hey Lover" - LL Cool J (1995-1996). The only song that has logged more weeks at #3 is "Another Night' - Real McCoy (1994-1995). Another Night spent eleven weeks at #3.
