I have many reasons.
1- I hate when its not a local DJ (Unless its a countdown or other speciality show) Even overnights on the weekends should have a live DJ. And when I win the lotto, we're having that for sure!
2- Not much music selection. (Some stations, even the SXM ones play far too little of a variety)
3- Non local morning show. Its one thing to air a live afternoon show (Like the old Don & Mike Show) But even Stern to me was annoying simply because he wasn't local.
What turns you off of a radio station?

Don't listen to morning or afternoon shows much at all. But #2 is my biggest complaint. It seems like no matter which station I listen to and I really only listen to the station that airs AT40 which plays the 60s, 70s and 80s and an R&B oldies station. And SXM 70s for awhile though not much anymore because of the thing that all 3 do. They have too small a playlist. I keep hearing the same songs. The first 2 stations both play from at least 20 years and so they should have tons of songs to choose from. Yet they are too resticted in what they play. Too much top of the chart stuff.

Tighter than ever playlists. Voice talent completely strangled out of their own personality in the name of "less clutter". Not enough new music added per week and too many recurrents/golds. In a phrase: corporativism running rampant.

I record my favourite shows on minidiscs and then go listening to them during the week. Chart shows, no radio in real time, and of course, I cant stant self feeder ego divo DJs and annoying announcers. Broadcasters who make radio for themselves and a few friends ( public radio is that way here in Europe).
I love music, but when I see the video clip of a song on TV all the magic dies, so I prefer radio. It is only at night when I use a radio to listen to local tiny radio stations doing own shows.

Dukedeb, EXACTLY! If there was a station ONLY playing Billboard #1 hits, they'd play well over 1,000 songs, most stations don't even play that much music.
If your station plays "Hits of the 70's" or "Hits Of The 80's" then you should technically play ANYTHING that hit the top 40 in said decade.
If you're an A/C station, you should be playing 50's to today, all formats as long as its softer music. Even instrumentals be they pop or even jazz. We have a station here, who SAYS they're soft rock but then they play:
Hold The Line by Toto, Don't Stop Believin' by Journey, Disco like Stayin Alive, I Will Survive & Celebration and even play California Gurls by Katy Perry and Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson. Now its my turn to say: NO, JUST NO!

I generally refuse to listen to the radio and sadly even satellite radio because :
1. They play the same records repeatedly 2. There's less variety in the music selection 3. For the most part it is because I have my own collection of songs I'd prefer to listen to right at the moment and usually it's the older countdown shows.
The only decent station that is here in the Twin Cities is not a CHR, CHR/Rhythmic, Urban, AC, or even Hot AC, it's an Active Rock format. I'm slowly getting back into that kind of music, it'll have to be KXXR known as 93 X. Each year when it comes time to attend the Minnesota State Fair, I usually go to their booth first thing!

Too much crap on the radio. Plus overkill of today's popular artists. That's why I tune it out.
Radio was at its best during the 1980s, but it is not the same anymore without any artists or bands from that decade.
