With the recent news of Sly Stone now being homeless, it got me thinking about something. With Sly &The Family Stone being the first major American rock band to be an "integrated, multi-gender band, in terms of intergrated groups only, does anybody know:
How many intergrated groups have hit the Top 40? Who is the most successful intergrated group?

Amazing. I worked a concert maybe 5 years ago featuring John Fogerty who is one of Sly Stone's contemporaries. Would have thought that Sly could still be doing concerts too as opposed to being homeless. Not that Fogerty is still doing concerts today either.
But the Doobie Brothers and KC & the Sunshine Band are ranked higher among integrated groups of the rock era (through 2000).

Sly has done shows recently but his erratic behavior prevents them from wanting to work with him...

Integrated acts to have hit the Top 40, you ask? Out of the most recent, on top of my head: *Dave Matthews Band *Hootie & The Blowfish (the difference one single member does! ) *Yellowcard (ditto; it's the drummer, who's mixed race) *Blessid Union (of Souls) *Sixpence None The Richer (it's the lead singer) *All-4-One (two Blacks, one Latino and a Caucasian) *Dakota Moon *4 Non Blondes (again, one single member makes a difference) *Black Eyed Peas And that's all for now.

I found some more groups that were intergrated:
Three Dog Night War Tony Orlando and Dawn The Thompson Twins Simply Red UB40 Fine Young Cannibals Heatwave
I think that Three Dog Night might be the most successful intergrated group, since they had 21 Top 40 hits (including 18 consecutive Top 20 hits).
