Was hoping for 01.27.1979 which I don't think has been broadcast since 2011 - and then was only a 3-hour offering. |

There are no guarantees that 4-14-79 will air this year, albeit the first unaired show that Premiere could possibly do. I would think that Premiere would air a 79 show before that, so I see two different scenarios for a Feb 79 show. 2-10-79 could possibly air on Feb 8-9, or likely 2-24-79 could air on Feb 22-23. 2-17-79 is out because it had been aired in recent years. In the "every year gets it's chance" theory, I like 2-28-76 for leap day weekend . |

Any experts here with knowledge of Elvis Presley single releases? Within the Hot 100 on January 27, 1973, "Separate Ways" by Elvis (listed as RCA 74-0815) was #21 in its 9th week on the chart. But elsewhere in the same issue of Billboard, under the National Breakout Singles section, the song "Separate Ways" by Elvis is listed with label information as RCA Camden CAS 2611. Anyone know the story of two releases of the same song? Whitburn lists the former #, no mention of the latter. As I recall, Camden was RCA's 'budget' LP label, did not think they released 45s under that imprint. |

Though edited, the version heard this week of "Reelin' & Rockin'" is still pretty long -- and full of suggestive lyrical content. I can remember at least one show in '73 where AT40 played every verse, which shocked me at the time.

I relistened to 1/6/73 recently (where the song debuted at #40) and I think that had every verse. |

Though edited, the version heard this week of "Reelin' & Rockin'" is still pretty long -- and full of suggestive lyrical content. I can remember at least one show in '73 where AT40 played every verse, which shocked me at the time. I relistened to 1/6/73 recently (where the song debuted at #40) and I think that had every verse. That was aired by Sirius XM a couple of weeks ago. Also remember that this live version of the song (originally the B side of “Sweet Little Sixteen” in 1958; it’s easy to see why it wasn’t an A in the 50s) was the follow up to a live #1 hit which was basically a string of rather childish anatomical double entendres. |

This countdown uses the Billboard chart instead of the one calculated by the AT40 staff. Great job! A couple of questions, how come the bumpers get cut off on the stream? Mid way thru Casey’s tease it goes into a commercial. Also, I found the Billboard Top 100 singles of 1973 on Wikipedia, numbers 76 and 77, 56 and 57 and 36 and 37 are flipped from what’s on the show. Obviously Wikipedia can be wrong and usually is, but it’s weirder how it’s those positions that are flipped and everything else is correct. Not criticizing, just curious. The bumpers getting cut off is a product of the streaming service we use. I've been fighting with them to correct it but haven't had much success. The song flips were a product of me not looking at the correct chart. That's my mistake and I apologize. I should have gone directly to the source for the list. |

I noticed a sound effect from “Deliverance” at the end of the 3rd optional song, “Dueling Banjos.” As Larry is finishing his back-announce, the banjo music plays again followed by the sound effect we hear when John Voigt slides off the mountain and into the river with the dead hillbilly.

I noticed a sound effect from “Deliverance” at the end of the 3rd optional song, “Dueling Banjos.” As Larry is finishing his back-announce, the banjo music plays again followed by the sound effect we hear when John Voigt slides off the mountain and into the river with the dead hillbilly. I wondered what was going on there. There's a rainstorm sound too, I think? |

I thought that since he got through every hour from 1 A.M. to noon it was the full version, but yes, it runs 7 minutes on the LP compared to 4 minutes on the single. |

I was thinking of the "I got some on my finger so I wiped it on the wall" verse (er, ewww!), which was missing this week, but "diggin' like an ol' steam shovel" is nearly as audacious. Also, I loved the bit where Casey (with help from Mae West!) predicted a long life and career yet to come for Elvis. Ooops. |
