Did Ken Martin do his mono2stereo conversion on the 12.04.71 show when it was previously presented on 12.07.2013? Yes. This is a mono2stereo rerun. Thanks Ken. What about the 10.30.71 show presented on 11.02.19 - it was previously presented in 2014. Was it also a mono2stereo rerun?

This morning WPAC had a message up that their stream wasn't available. The "mornings" and "Casey" links are up, but the mornings link is non-AT40 and the Casey link still has last week's 1974 show.

I got a message (pop-up box) on iTunes that the stream requires a sign-in (with password), which it never has before. Something's up with WPAC's stream.

Casey mentioned that Charlie Rich began his career on Sun Records as did Carl Perkins,Jerry Lee Lewis,& Roy Orbison-However,Casey omitted Elvis Presley whose initial releases on Sun made the country chart.

With "Sweet Understanding Love" about to exit, 12/1/73 was the last week the Four Tops were on AT40 until 9/19/81, when "When She Was My Girl" debuted. The Allman Brothers were at #39 on both of these shows: "Ramblin' Man" in 73, "Straight from the Heart" in 81 (and they'd had just one five-week run on the show in between themselves).

I remember that Coca Cola ad where all the people from different countries were singing "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing"-That's a certifiable classic.

According to jdelachjr2002, the optional extras for December 4, 1971 are the same as 2013: "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony)" The New Seekers "Day After Day" Badfinger "Let's Stay Together" Al Green Just like in 2013, the original extra, "Winchester Cathedral" by the New Vaudeville Band, has been left out of the show. pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/123897/american-top-40-70s-80s?page=128

The Hillside Singers version that peaked at #13 was more 'true' to the ad than the higher-charting (#7) New Seekers version. Of course, both versions omitted all Coca-Cola references.

It's very 60's, but it's not a bad song.

When "AT40" was playing the # 1 hits of the 60's in 1980 & 1981,they did play "Winchester Cathedral"-It's odd they chose not to play it this time.

The two versions of the same song simultaneously on the chart takes us back to the days of Top 40 radio wars. In Chicago, the two big music stations at the time opted to each play just one version. WLS started with the New Seekers (the original Coke commercial sound-alike) and WCFL followed with just the Hillside Singers version. Earlier in 1971, the same situation took place with the two charting versions of "I Don't Know How To Love Him" from Jesus Christ Superstar. Those were the days!
