Ken - is it WTOJ sister station WATN that carries non-Christmas music including AT40? WATN is news/talk. It's only oldies on Sunday night. It will not be carrying the regular AT40.

Their "2525" follow-up, the downbeat "Mr. Turnkey", is one of the most infamous flops in history: coming after a HUGE #1 hit on a major label, and despite airplay on the biggest Top 40 station in the nation, WABC (which was heard in 38 states at night!), it still couldn't crack the Hot 100. Deejays at WABC jokingly referred to the song as "Mr. Turkey". Although it has a catchy melody, I imagine the subject matter of the lyrics was an instant deal breaker for most stations. Of course with that response I had to look them up...yeah, rape and the resulting imprisonment from committing it are not really radio friendly.

We will be hearing the show from 12-2-72, which features the song "Nights In White Satin" which the following week (12-9-72) completely leaves the Hot 100 from that week's #17 position, and becomes the biggest drop from the Hot 100. The previous record for the longest drop off the Hot 100, was in 1969 when "Crimson and Clover" fell off the Hot 100 from position #18. If I was incorrect in these two references, please state so. I know we have so many chart experts who possess vast knowledges of the Hot 100.

Prediction for next week's show: 1st Guess - 12/2/72 2nd Guess - 12/1/73 Guessing that 1972 and '73 are your next two shows. I'll go with the not-yet-played 12/2/72 show. 12/1/73 was last played as an 'A' show 2012, 12/8/73 was last played in 2014. I remember hearing the 12/8/73 program in December 2014--it was the last show I've heard on a terrestrial station in our area (on Binghamton, NY's WINR). Clear Channel/iHeart changed their format to Classic Country a few days later, and no station has picked up either the '70s or the '80s series since. I am thankful for Internet radio--otherwise, I'd be looking at four years without hearing Casey's voice.

Ken - does WTOJ have a non-Christmas stream with AT40 this year? I followed the rdo.to/wtojxmas link you provided last year on Sunday at 9 ET and AT40 wasn't on.

Especially the Elvis track--have not heard that one in ages. And 'normal Norman' (as John Lennon called him) Smith's 'love it or hate it' song is always a treat.

With 1972 outta some strike zones, look for stations like Hog to pull an alternative show out of the bin this weekend. Even a December '72 show with a lot of '73 hits on it? Not doubting you, just guessing that there will be fewer 'no-plays' for this one than for the '70 show a couple of weeks ago.

I was looking at this week in all the years featured on AT40 the 70's, and arrived at 12-1-79. I noticed the all the Top 6 songs of the week were past, present or future #1s. Is this the only time in AT40's history this has happened? This just seems so wild that a song wasn't peaking that week at positions 2-6.

It went even one better one time in 1974, near the start of the the 'revolving door' series of #1 songs that then fell totally out of the top 10 the following week. The top SEVEN songs were all past, present, or future #1s the week ending September 21, 1974
