Because pop music for me went down the drain in 1991, I stopped following the pop charts, and was heavy into the modern rock and album rock charts in the 90s. Did any members out there do the same?
The biggest accomplishment in my opinion was Pearl Jam's "Ten" spending an incredible 100 weeks in the Top 40 of the Album Charts. Ironically, they didn't do that well on the rock charts. The only video they really had was the classic "Jeremy" and "Black" was their highest charted song. If they would have made more videos, anyone think they would have been more popular and spent even more weeks on the charts? And clearly, I think "Vs" would have spent more than 5 weeks at #1 if they released videos. Too bad because that was even a better album.

Like you, I did morph into alternative and hard rock for listening. But for the charts, I did not follow any rock chart but stayed in the pop realm and switched over to Cashbox because they had not changed to Soundscan or its equivalent. IMO, that was the continuation of the old Hot 100 and the level playing field that I was looking for. Accuracy of charts was not my priority all you Soundscan fans!

Pearl Jam? Ugh, Eddie Vedder cannot sing nor can he play guitar!
But I did like the early 90's Modern Rock Scene/Alternative Scene otherwise!
