As I am listening to AT40: The 70's 6/29/1974 show with the not matching the Billboard chart rankings (leads off with "Keep on Smiling" by Wet Willie at #40), I have a suggestion for Ken Martin: Since tomorrow WTOJ will air the AT40 6/29/1974 correct Billboard chart top 40 with Casey bits mixed in, do you think you could do the same for 6/9/1973 AT40 chart with the correct published 6/9/1973 Billboard top 40 rankings next year?

Almost every elgible year has been featured as the "A" show 3 times. 1971 has been featured twice. 7/10/71 last aired in 2015. Given that, I'll go with 7/9/77 over 7/10/71 for next weekend. 7/9/77 last aired in 2021. 1977 was last the "A" show in April. Every other year has been featured since. Unless next weekend for the first weekend of July 2024 is the first ever Casey AT40 show from the July 4th. weekend of 1970 with the July 11, 1970 AT40 chart as the A show entry with maybe for the B show July 9, 1977. Don't they usually play the first and last AT40 shows on quinquennial anniversaries?

Why no specials for July 4th weekend? I would also note there were no specials for Memorial Day weekend this year. (Also posted this in 80s)

WPNC now airing Jun 30, 1979.
For some reason, the show started around 15 or 20 minutes early.

I am currently catching the last three hours on WPNC so I'll only have one hour to listen to (will be convenient if there is a late broadcast of the full show).

In any event, WPNC replays the show Tuesday night at Midnight (12AM-4AM Wednesday) I guess I started listening around 12:14pm and listened little to 1979 show and they're at #36. I didn't listen from the begin to check, and maybe it might limited commercials? 12:40pm they were at hour #2. So after opt xtra 1 around 12:36pmish I didn't even bother to listen to the rest to check.

I'll listen to it in a few minutes. Perhaps they swapped the order of those first few segments (as is prone to happen)
EDIT: WPNC Played a 45 second promo to talk about the special programming they have coming up this week. It threw their whole first hour out of whack. H1S1 wasn't played at all, the first OE got clipped a couple seconds short, and they ended up playing longer commercial breaks until the show got 'caught up' so that it would end at 4:00. I'll be catching their Tuesday night replay. They usually correct errors for the replay.

I'm currently listening to AT40 from 29 June 1974 on KLMR (randomly selected from the stations playing AT40). The chart as broadcast on AT40 isn't the same as the chart printed in Billboard. 'My Girl Bill', at #28 on Billboard, was at #31 on AT40. Other records just above this are also in diffeerent psotions on the Billboard chart when comapred to AT40. Casey is now playing number 27 - 'If You Want To get To Heaven' by Ozark Mountain Daredevils. This is at #25 on Billboard. Is anyone aware of a problem that might have prevented AT40 from playing the correct chart on that particualr week back in 1974? Apologies if I've asked in the wrong thread or if this scenario has been addressed previously.
edit: AT40 is now playing 'Sideshow' by Blue Magic at #26. It's at #20 on Billboard.

If I'm not mistaken, the "AT40" staff didn't receive the "Hot 100" chart from 6/29/74 & therefore had to guess where the songs ranked in the top forty that particular week. I've just noticed this post. This explains why the chart as broadcast on AT40 doesn't match with the chart published in Billboard.

It was Ken Martin's #1 hits of the 1970s. Same for the '80s, plus a show from the 2000s. They'll probably do something similar next weekend.

I've just noticed this post. This explains why the chart as broadcast on AT40 doesn't match with the chart published in Billboard. Casey was off to tape an episode of Hawaii Five-O. To accommodate his absence, the AT40 staff guessed where the songs would be. That's why Billboard and this weeks countdown don't match. BTW, Magic 103.1 / WTOJ has created a special edition of this show with the songs in the correct order as listed in Billboard. That will air Sunday morning at 9 Eastern and then again immediately after the show again at Noon. Listen online at magic1031.com or with your smart device.
