Noteworthy chart talk…
From #40-27, the first hour of February 13, 1971 is heavy with classic R&B singles (8 of 14), including songs by James Brown, Rufus Thomas, Ike & Tina Turner, Jackie Moore, Johnnie Taylor, Joe Simon, Wilson Pickett and Little Sister.
And with a little blue-eyed soul, moving up Billboard’s Soul Singles survey this week is Rare Earth’s “Born To Wander” and “One Bad Apple” by the Osmonds, which climbed from #30 to #14.

"Big Shot" contains an offensive word that Premiere will likely delete. Only the album version contains the questionable lyric. The single version changed it to "cryin". Although I have heard at least one show with "Big Shot" in the Top 40 where the album version was surprisingly played.

It was in the 2014 airing of the 2/17/79 show.

I had to chuckle to myself while listening to the current countdown on White Squirrel...
I feel so lucky to have grown up when I did.
TO be able to listen to songs by Led Zeppelin, Liz Damon, Little Sister and Grass Roots back to back to back to back on a Top 40 countdown!

Pete - probably the reason I will NEVER get tired of the early 70s AT 40 - all the R & B during this particular time period.
