More on 9/20/1975: I liked how that for the first OPTIONAL EXTRA with turning a story on what happened to "Deep Purple" singers Nino Tempo and April Stevens into an OPTIONAL EXTRA with the "Deep Purple" song. Even Larry Morgan added in after Casey's spiel about April Stevens passing away this year and Nino Tempo in the 1980's and 1990's doing cartoon voices (I remember Nino doing voices for a few Garfield animated TV specials in the 1980's). Also for 9/20/1975: In a Casey story on KC of the Sunshine Band getting hospitalized briefly in 1974 Casey mentioned the first KC and the Sunshine Band song in the UK in 1974 was "Queen of Hearts" when the real title was "Queen of Clubs"! (In the USA, "Queen of Clubs" didn't crack the top 40 on Billboard's Hot 100 but made the top 40 of Billboard's Soul Singles chart). Hey--good post! Both parts. And thanks for catching Casey's error on the KC song title--slipped by me. TK Records re-released "Queen Of Clubs" in the U.S. in early '76, as the follow-up to "That's the Way (I Like It)". It peaked at #66 in April. A 'miss' in between two #1s. Another Casey error was when he said the Spinners' "Games People Play" (which I presume was supersized by WTOJ) was "falling" to #23. In fact it was moving up, and eventually peaked at #5.

They aired Fins but not as a tribute, instead it was Casey's intro cut and pasted from the 10/27 show. There hasn't been a 1978 A show since spring. Maybe, it happens next weekend and the tribute actually happens. Kudos to Premiere for playing "Cheeseburger In Paradise" as the Hour 1 OE for this week's A show from 9/1/73-That happens to be one of my favorite Jimmy Buffett songs. Actually that was only on WTOJ. Premier will play it later on.

The only other KC and the Sunshine Band miss between 2 #1's happened between "Get Down Tonight" and "That's The Way (I Like It)" - "Shotgun Shuffle" made Billboard's Hot 100 but never made the top 40 reaches. No, there was a third occurrence: "I Like To Do It" peaked at 37 in early '77, between the #1s "Shake Your Booty" and "I'm Your Boogie Man". KC & Co. are surely the only act to have such a chart peak progression: 1>88>1>66>1>37>1. "Keep It Comin' Love" ended that odd pattern by peaking at 2.

Just checked 'PNC--still humming. Guess no one's minding the store... WPNC finally back on-air, and on stream! 1979 show in progress, hour 2. I wonder if WPNC will play the full four hours Tuesday night/Wednesday morning? As it was yesterday they jumped in at the start of the second hour, which began at #32 with "Get It Right Next Time" (aptly titled.)

One of the debut songs from 9/15/79 was "Ain't That A Shame" by Cheap Trick-That was originally a hit for both Fats Domino & Pat Boone in 1955-Boone's version was rather lackluster.

WPNC had a glitch today during the first hour of the 1983 show. Given their tendency to play 1979 shows in their entirety, I'd chalk up yesterday's playing of a partial 1979 show as a similar glitch. The Monday night/Tuesday morning 80's replay and Tuesday night/Wednesday morning 70's replays tend to offer them a chance to make up for those types of glitches.

I'll go with 9/23/78 over 9/24/77 for next weekend. The last time 9/23/78 was the A show was 2013. 1978 has not been featured as an A show since Spring. Next week is Fall. Peteski hinting 9/26/70

That would be the third time this month that a year would be featured 4 weeks apart: 8/05/2023: 1973 9/02/2023: 1973 8/19/2023: 1975 9/16/2023: 1975 8/26/2023: 1970 9/23/2023: 1970

Not sure what's up with repeating several years just a month or less apart when several years haven't been the main show (i.e. A or standalone) in three months or more. Still, at least one can't claim that Premiere is subtly phasing out the early 70s shows, something that's been speculated on here at times. (They also played two 1971 A's four weeks apart in July, though none since.)
Unless 9/30/78 is aired on the weekend of September 30/October 1, as it originally was (1978 and 2023 have the same calendar), then there will be no 1978 standalones after June as later shows from that year were four hours and thus will have B's.

Probably just a poor choice of words on Casey's part. He says "a tune that's been around for 4 weeks now, falling at number 23." In this case, falling, is in, that's where it falls in the countdown. Not actually saying it was falling DOWN the chart.
