Still, couldn't that happen? The other closest B's are from 4/2/77 and 4/8/78, which were a standalone and a B in 2022, and 1979 was a B just last week. April 8th, 1978 is the B show, source Facebook.

Yes, 4/3/1976 could happen. History has shown Premiere has even selected the same "B" show in consecutive years at times. Can't rule it out. April 8th, 1978 is the B show, source Facebook. Yep, there you have it, folks. Two years in a row. And there still are those that question "B" selections aired two years ago. And this was happening even before the aforementioned hearing a 1976-1979 show every week. SMH.

Interestingly, 4/8/1978 has been a standalone four times--but not since 2012. Last year was the first time it was a B. (4/1/1972 has been played twice as an A, in 2011 and 2015.)
Of the other late 1970s years, we're about due for a 1979 A, but 4/14 was played as such in 2020, 4/28 in 2021, and 4/21 was a B last year. While a show that was last an A in 2020 is probably eligible for replay, more likely we don't get another 1979 A until May (5/12 is the only May 1979 show that is clearly out for this year.)
With 1972 finally an A this weekend, 1975 will next be the year with the longest A drought, but only 4/26/1975 (last aired 2018) is likely an April possibility this year, as the other two shows from that month were A's in 2021-22.

I'm hoping that they wait another week or two for May 3rd, 1975, not played by Premiere since 2010!

Too bad WTOJ isn't featuring 4/8/78 this weekend-Ken Martin would've supersized that show.

After going w/ 1975 show in 2022, KOKZ goes with butchered 1978 this week. This week last year the show offered was 4/2/1977. What does 1975 have to do with anything?

KOKZ chose 1974 last week (when they could have given us four hour 1979). So I guess 1974, or maybe 1973, is their usual dividing line.

I've noticed KOKZ will avoid 1979 when another is coming in short order. But I don't see anything playable on the horizon. This would be a great weekend for Premiere to pull out a Bumper car but apparently "Wheel" has the monopoly on those. It's even worse mid April on the 80s side. Half the decade is pretty much wiped out. And there is no "Wheel' to help out there.

After going w/ 1975 show in 2022, KOKZ goes with butchered 1978 this week. I was surprised to find that when the last 2 B shows aired in back to back years (6/18/1977 & 10/15/1977) more stations aired the shows in 2022 than 2021 despite the A shows being from 1974 & 1975. Predictions for the stations with a history of playing the "B" shows: KLFM - 1972 - already announced *WPAC - 1978 - does not play 1972 *WXXM - 1978 - plays B shows KOKZ - 1978 - already announced *KLDZ - 1972 - random; played B last week WPNC - 1972 - random; played B last week *WQMV - 1978 - plays both shows KOZI - 1972 - random; played B last week KBGO - 1978 - does not play 1972 *WRTH - 1972 - random; played B last week WQCY - 1978 - leans B KDRI - 1972 - aired 1971 & 1973 shows KPRW - 1978 - passed on 1971 & 1973 shows *WIHG - 1978 - does not play 1972 *WVWP - 1978 - plays both shows WPTY - 1972 - does not play 1971 but plays 1972 *WSMG - 1978 - passed on 1971 & 1973 shows Stations that alternate 70s & 80s: KUVR - 1986 - aired 1979 last week *WHTT - 1986 - aired 1974 last week * - played 1978 last year

I was surprised to find that when the last 2 B shows aired in back to back years (6/18/1977 & 10/15/1977) more stations aired the shows in 2022 than 2021 despite the A shows being from 1974 & 1975. I have to imagine that this will be the ongoing trend as these early show dates pass their 50 year golden anniversaries. When stations call themselves oldies stations or 70s/80s stations, they now refer to the last half of the 70s, '77 and on (Fleetwood Mac thru disco era) and pre-77 is now almost exclusively "Classic Rock" (which excludes classic pop of course). It's pretty amazing to me that we can still hear songs from 50 years ago anywhere. When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, the 50 year songs were from the 20s and 30s, vaudeville, tin pan alley, wax cylinder stuff... we thought oldies were the Beatles and early Stones. Even the 50s music (including Elvis) was considered as old as dirt and there were no stations playing anything before 1965. The length of the Premiere station list astounds me, and is a testament to the strength of the AT40 show, to Casey himself, and the music from our g-g-generation, but I am not surprised when we lose stations due to format changes. And dare I say?... I also won't be surprised if Premiere stops airing the early 70s shows at some point and goes only with the last decade of AT40. (blasphemy, I know) Thanks for the prediction list jmack! You are such a valuable resource.

What do you do when a song you absolutely CAN'T STAND is in the countdown? You start listening to 1979 on WPNC since they play Hour 1, turn it off during the intro to Y.M.C.A. and then listen to the PAC-cast (WPAC Podcast), which started with hour 2 even though they played Hour 1 live, and scroll over to start it during the outro to said song .
