1971 is the year with the second longest drought in terms of A/standalone shows, behind only 1978. 1972 is next longest, last an A one week after 1971 (and 1979 one week after that.) Maybe 5/27/72 is on tap for Memorial Day weekend? (5/20 was an A just two years ago and so is probably out.)
Probably the next 1971 A that I can see is 6/12/71, which has only been an A once, in 2010; it was a also a B to a 1979 A in 2013 and unplayed since.

He also co-wrote Crazy For You By Madonna and Save the Best for Last By Vanessa Williams along with Vanessa's Later lower hit the Sweetest Days. Fun fact two of my parents friends were Jon's Mom and dad. I only met Jon Once briefly but my parents Used to play Tennis with his parents up on Cape Cod.

Find out in a few days... WXXM has aired the last dozen B shows. WQMV, WRTH & WVWP airs both shows. It would not be a surprise if stations like 2NUR, WSMG or WIRL goes with 1971.

The May 12, 1979 show aired on SiriusXM last year. I did not get all the answers to this: This is such a great show... a classic... May 12, 1979! Here are ten things you will learn if you listen to the show. I'll present them... Jeopardy style, haha! 1. This is Debbie Harry's favorite hobby. 2. He posed for his high school yearbook picture... dressed as a woman! 3. He quit the music biz in 1970 to become a Washington DC cop. 4. He ended his 2-year retirement after a friend nearly died in a car crash. 5. She spent 5 months recording her debut album, causing the producer to bang his head on the control board! 6. After starring in "The Wiz," Michael Jackson wanted to appear in his next film with these guys. 7. This was the only record label who came to see GQ when they did a music showcase in a South Bronx basement. 8. She had the song on this countdown for the the most weeks - 17. 9. The only act with two songs in the top 40 this week. 10. The Woodstock Festival is mentioned because this band is from Woodstock, NY. Bonus: With Todd Rundgren being voted into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame this past week, name the song on this week's countdown that he wrote.

15 debut records between the A and B shows this week. Is that a record? None of those hits reached #1. Closest is "We Are Family" which reached #2. One of those debuts is a fave of mine but not many other people, Diana's cover of "Reach Out I'll Be There".

Any Beatle fans out there? This week's 70s shows each have 3 songs by solo Beatles in the show plus the 1971 show has 2 Beatle songs covered. It also this comment by Casey that 'with the Beatles at least temporarily inactive' in the story about the Stones. That is one of many comments he made in the early 70s alluding to the Beatles breakup not being final or wondering if and when they will get back together. Interesting that the AT40 staff had that mindset. One of those 3 Beatles hits in the 1979 show is a #1 archive song. You know all the Beatles had their final weeks at #1 in January. For Ringo, it was 1/26/74; for John it was 1/24/81; for Paul it was 1/14/84; for George it was 1/16/88. Of course it was in January that they exploded on the American music scene in 1964.

Something's up with KLFM--nothing but ads since the top of the hour, when AT40 should have started. Monitoring.
Now a non-Premiere extra. Still no AT40.

Something's up with KLFM--nothing but ads since the top of the hour, when AT40 usually starts. Monitoring. It's like they didn't program the AT40 segments into the hour. It's just commercials and jingles and now a Larry Morgan voiced, non Premier extra that KLFM plays from time to time.
