(reminds me of that other well-known misheard lyric, "I got shoes, they're made of plywood, and I'm losin' the soles") LOL! Also in the first hour, Foster Sylvers' hit; I thought he was saying "It's just a mystery, girl" until I saw the title printed out.

As said by kani: Casey stated he had 11 predictions wrong out of 20 for when it comes to predicting #1 - The previous 1973 week Casey predicted "Live and Let Die" would be #1, but he was wrong; and the next 1973 week Casey would be wrong again since he predicted "Brother Louie" would be #1 but "Touch Me in the Morning" moved into the #1 spot bringing the total to 12 wrong.

Maybe that's why they got out of the predicting business.

Maybe that's why they got out of the predicting business. The predicting the #1 song feature was retired from AT40 at the end of 1973.

Well that's a bummer. Listening to KLFM who is playing 1973 and before song # 32 'checked in' so to speak, suddenly a horse with no name came on already in progress and then they skipped to commercial and started again at #30 so lost some songs there. Haven't seen that station mess up before whenever I've caught it on their channel. I just listened to my KLFM stream capture of that show, and while they did play "A Horse With No Name" as an extra "Top 40 Extra" before #30, the #32 and #31 songs were intact before it.

Long time since I posted again. Not listening to AT40 much anymore. But I caught a bit of the 1973 show today. I had never heard the third hour OE played between #6 and #5. Is that a new thing to do it that early in the hour? Great song they chose for that OE btw, "Stoned Out of My Mind". I doubt any stations are playing that song anymore!

Agree on both: Odd placement, and excellent 'lost' 45 as the extra. The group would put six more singles on the 'Hot 100' through late '75, but 'Stoned' would be their last of five top 40 pop singles. An odd top 40 run as well: Their two huge hits were bookended by three that did not make the top 25. This one would peak at #30.

"Touch Me In the Morning" wasn't even among the three possibilities Casey listed; they were "Brother Louie", "Live and Let Die", and "The Morning After" staying on top. In fairness, he was a bit ahead of the curve on "Brother Louie", which hit #1 after TMITM. Casey also whiffed in the 1979 B show when he said Barbra Streisand's "The Main Event" looked like a #1, when it peaked at #3. But Barbra did hit the top her next time around, with Donna Summer's help, on "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)".

Casey played the 45 edit of "Uneasy Rider".-The version I heard didn't include a certain homophobic slur.
