Is it just me, or does Elton John's "Ego" sound like something Queen would've done?

Seals & Crofts were members of The Champs as Casey pointed out-However,that was years after their 1958 hit "Tequila" had gone to # 1. This is correct. After the original Champs broke up,a member of the group Dave Burgess kept the name and used studio musicians to record songs under The Champs name. Then he sent out four guys to be the "touring" band. The members of the "touring" band were Seals and Crofts and two guitar players. The guitarists were Jerry Cole and Glen Campbell.

I finally found a station carrying the 1978 Mark Elliott Special. KOZI from Whelan, WA. This show began airing at 6:00 p.m.(CST) or 4:00 p.m. (PST). According to the Station entry on the current AT40 Stations 1970's list this show will be replayed tomorrow at the same time. Unfortunately they cut-off the program at 10:00 PM without playing number one. They are just completing this week's 1978 show, with #1 being played, almost 10 minutes early!

Nope. Two more albums did it in the '80s: Whitney Houston's Whitney (the first by a female artist to debut at #1) and Michael Jackson's Bad, both from 1987. thanks for that correction. Bruce Springsteen's Live 1975-85 also debuted at #1 in 1986.

During the 5/17/75 countdown, Casey offered a reality check while introducing Supertramp for the first time (“that’s what they call themselves”), as “Bloody Well Right” debuted at #37. Also worth noting, 10 years later, Supertramp’s 9th and final Top 40 hit (“Cannonball”) debuted on AT40 in June 1985. I believe it was the following week that Casey told the story of how their US record company (A&M) goofed, putting "Bloody Well" on the A-side by mistake -- the flip, "Dreamer" had been a hit in the UK and should've been the A. But "Bloody Well" made the Top 40 anyway! Notice if you hear the album version where the tempo picks up at 50 sec into the song, it sounds like one of the AT40 bumper jingles from 82-83. Love the "Crime Of The Century" album which I much prefer over the overplayed "Breakfast In America". The "Crime Of The Century" album cover reminds me of the Phantom Zone from the Superman movies. You could say that A&M's mistake was their "Gaffe Of The Century"😁

Are you saying that they are going to air the Mark Elliot show 5/13/1978? Yes, they did start the Mark Elliott show at #40 with Baker St. by Gerry Rafferty--and the song leading into it was Gerry's other big hit from 1978--Right Down the Line.
