Trivia factoid about this particular 'Hot 100' (and the one before it): One of the last cases (maybe THE last case?) of a song falling out of the 40 the previous week and dropping off of the Hot 100 entirely. Evelyn 'Champagne' King's "I Don't Know If It's Right" was #40 the previous week, is not on the 100 at all this week. That was nearly equalled the same week by Linda Clifford's rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water", which fell from #41 to #100. It's one of two Linda Clifford singles to peak at #41 ("Red Hot", in 1980, was the other) but she never made the pop top 40. However, her version of "If My Friends Could See Me Now" was heard twice on AT40 as a Long Distance Dedication, on 9/22/79 and 1/12/80 (the latter show was guest hosted.)

"The Battle Hymn Of Lt.Calley" was quite a period piece-It didn't recieve any airplay in the NY metropolitan area which is where I live. It received virtually no pop airplay, and only on some country stations. It's high Hot 100 debut (at #41) and short chart life (41-37-37-40-off) were solely due to sales. Quite extraordinary with Billboard designating the single an RIAA million seller in its first week on the Hot 100.

For 5/13/78, I'll go with:
"Cheeseburger In Paradise" "Use Ta Be My Girl" "Last Dance"

It appears that next weekend's show is from 1977, probably May 7. Can't rule out May 14.

Good morning all fellow members. Looking at the two posts above, is this coming weekend's AT 40 the 70's episode 1977 or 1978? Thanks. Both No official announcement as of yet, but it appears that there will be a bonus show of 5/13/78 (in honor of Mark Elliott) and jmack19 says 1977 is the regularly scheduled show for the coming weekend. Curious to see if Premiere would vary that due to the main and alternate shows being just one year apart.

Extras: Hour #1: "Wonderful Tonight" - Eric Clapton Hour #2: "Last Dance" - Donna Summer Hour #3: "Still The Same" - Bob Seger & The SBB The $64k question now is will any stations play these bonus shows? In December, I think there was one that picked up the John Lennon bonus.

If the May 13, 1978 show gets aired, here's my picks for extras:
* "Almost Summer" – Mike Love & Celebration ... i.e., The Beach Boys. * "If I Ever See You Again" – Roberta Flack. Debuted way down at No. 109, this eventually became a respectable No. 24 hit. * "Wheel In the Sky" – Journey. Amazingly, just peaked at No. 57, but a frequent and popular song with oldies/classic hits radio.

In December, I think there was one that picked up the John Lennon bonus. You hope there are a few, but it's harder to see it happening in the 70's series when the main show is form 1977 and the bonus show is a regular countdown from 1978. If the 'A' show this week were from 1971 or '72, the number of stations to pick up the Mark Elliott show would figure to be greater. I guess we'll know in the next few days...

At this point, I wish we just had ONE person stating what the next shows would be. Perhaps we could leave the "official" posting to another thread. Very confusing.

I'd go to this site for your "official" source: pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/123897/american-top-40-70s-80s?page=143We seem to have a minor degree of anarchy on this site now without one person handling show announcements like in the past.
