Doubtful Premiere will play one of Mark Elliott's guest hosted AT40 shows - One from the 1970's, one from the 1980's - as a tribute to him. Premiere really needs to do this, they did it for Dick Clark (arguably a much bigger name of course) and Gary Owens. While I agree, both of those are much more famous one-off AT40 guest hosts, Mark Elliott guested 7 times for Casey Kasem on 10/8/1977, 12/3/1977, 5/13/1978, 7/8/1978, 1/6/1979, 7/17/1982 & 10/2/1982.

Otherwise any of those shows would work. Hopefully Premiere does this--Elliot not only guest-hosted the second most shows during Casey's first AT40 run, he was the guest host for Casey's Top 40 through 1993. How old is 1980's AT40 guest host Charlie Van Dyke currently? CVD is retired from the radio business since the 2000's, I guess. CVD may have retired from radio, but I believe he continued to do voice over work well beyond that.

With this news I am predicting that the weekend of May 15/16 will feature 5/15/71 and 5/13/78. The former is the show from the week I was born which obviously means I and it are both turning 50 that week while 5/13/78 would be a tribute to Mark Elliott. The 80's would be a little trickier since both shows are from late in the year. They would probably have to run one of them as a special show Memorial Day Weekend, which is May 29/30.

But if Premiere played the Mark Elliott guest hosted AT40 from 1/6/1979, would the show replace the mistake of playing Andy Gibb's "An Everlasting Love" with the correct Andy Gibb song of "Our Love" in its proper position, then use the original mistake as an OPTIONAL EXTRA with Larry Morgan intro/outro?

I'm guessing they would more likely avoid 1/6/79 for that reason. Very few stations seem to end up carrying those tribute shows, so the assumption is that it wouldn't be worth the effort to modify the show to that degree. Add to it that if they do play a Mark Elliot tribute show, it would be spring/early summer show since it's now April. But I could be wrong about all that--they could really choose any one of those.

I can understand why some fans here would want to hear a Mark Elliott show... he had a wonderful voice that commanded one's attention! Having said that, the average music fan wouldn't know who Mark Elliott is so I'm not sure a "B" show with him is needed. However... Premiere could remove one of the optional extras and insert a three minute tribute to Mark for his work on AT40 as well as other voice work, especially his voice-overs with Disney movies.
Gary Owens was well known due to his work on Laugh In and other shows... people could associate his looks with his voice. I could understand Premiere offering Gary's show as an option when he passed away. With all due respect, I don't think the same can be said for Mark Elliott. A short tribute to him as an extra might be just what's needed, and could be done for other DJ's who have subbed for Casey.
I wouldn't object if they offered a Mark Elliott show. I listened to a few of his Disney movie trailers on YouTube yesterday... there's a reason why Disney enlisted his voice for a number of years!

Maybe Sirius XM might play a Mark Elliott show as a tribute? Just spitballing, but they did play the Dave Hull AT40, the first one ever guest hosted, after he passed last November and, randomly in January, aired the one hosted by the still alive and active (but better known) Wink Martindale. (These were played in the Thursday night timeslot used for random AT40s, not the regular weekend one where the dates usually line up with or near this week.)

Is anyone else listening to the 4/15/72 show on WSQL? If so do you know why it has been so severely edited? I ask because when Casey introduces a song with "And now that story about _ . . ." yet there was no teaser in this version of the show for the story.

One of the optional extras on the countdown from 4/15/72 was "Me & Julio Down By The Schoolyard" by Paul Simon-There's a lyric that you wouldn't understand unless you're from the NY metropolitan area-The line is "Goodbye Rosie, the queen of Corona"-Corona is a section of Queens,NY where Paul grew up.

Had no idea that Sirius/XM has played episodes of "AT40" where someone else filled in for Casey.

EDIT: please read my other, corrective post following this one.
For comparison, here are the Top 40 singles from Record World’s chart dated April 15, 1972, with the previous week’s positions posted first.
(46) (40.) Isn’t Life Strange – Moody Blues (47) (39.) I Saw The Light – Todd Rundgren (45) (38.) Smilin’ – Sly & The Family Stone (50) (37.) Ask Me What You Want – Millie Jackson (41) (36.) Nice To Be With You – Gallery (35) (35.) Am I Losing You – Partridge Family (37) (34.) Last Night I Didn’t Get To Sleep At All – 5th Dimension (40) (33.) Candy Man – Sammy Davis Jr. (33) (32.) Pool Of Bad Luck – Joe Simon (31) (31.) Help Me Make It Through The Night – Gladys Knight & The Pips (34) (30.) Mister Can’t You See – Buffy Sainte-Marie (36) (29.) Diary – Bread (32) (28.) Run Run Run – Jo Jo Gunne (39) (27.) You Could Have Been A Lady – April Wine (26) (26.) Jump Into The Fire – Nilsson (30) (25.) Morning Has Broken – Cat Stevens (29) (24.) Taxi – Harry Chapin (43) (23.) Walking In The Rain With The One I Love – Love Unlimited (48) (22.) Tumbling Dice – Rolling Stones (9) (21.) A Cowboy’s Work Is Never Done – Sonny & Cher (23) (20.) Slippin’ Into Darkness – War (25) (19.) Hot Rod Lincoln – Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen (21) (18.) Me & Julio Down By The Schoolyard – Paul Simon (28) (17.) Little Bitty Pretty One – Jackson Five (7) (16.) A Horse With No Name – America (17) (15.) Suavecito – Malo (18) (14.) Back Off Boogaloo – Ringo Starr (14) (13.) Baby Blue – Badfinger (20) (12.) I’ll Take You There – Staple Singers (12) (11.) Vincent – Don McLean (11) (10.) Doctor My Eyes – Jackson Browne (15) (9.) Oh Girl – Chi-Lites (8) (8.) Family Of Man – Three Dog Night (10) (7.) Look What You’ve Done For Me – Al Green (6) (6.) Day Dreaming – Aretha Franklin (5) (5.) In The Rain – The Dramatics (2) (4.) Rockin’ Robin – Michael Jackson (4) (3.) Betcha By Golly Wow – The Stylistics (3) (2.) I Gotcha – Joe Tex (1) (1.) The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face – Roberta Flack
A couple of chart discrepancies between Billboard and Record World on April 15, 1972… …Bread’s “Diary”, “Little Bitty Pretty One” by the Jackson Five, Sly & The Family Stone's "Smilin'" and “Isn’t Life Strange” by the Moody Blues were among Record World’s Top 40 but not listed anywhere on Billboard’s Hot 100. …Donny Osmond’s “Puppy Love” and Neil Young’s “Heart Of Gold” ranked among AT40’s Top 10 but were not found on Record World’s Top 40 chart.
Now, let’s get the countdown started!

Also, my educated guess is that 1972 is your favorite year in music. (For what it's worth, mine is 1978.)

Here in the UK we never really knew what that was about. In the early seventies we had Corona soft drinks which you could have delivered to your door in many flavours. This ceased in the late 90's. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corona_(soft_drink) Since then we've had the Mexican Corona beer!
