For the 2nd week, WMGN is getting "Where's AT40?" messages posted on its Facebook page. (It appears the ones posted last weekend were removed)

Wonder why it was over an hour late; I didn't use the station this week, but maybe they're playing it at 8 PM now? Or it was just a mistake. Odd that the time filler would use re-recordings instead of the original, better known hits, but when AT40 is remastered or remixed for stereo conversion the recordings used are presumably the same ones originally played, just mastered for current stereo play. No subsequent re-recordings, covers, or remixes are used, unless maybe it was impossible to find an airplay quality version, and Shannon Lynn has presumably ensured that doesn't happen. I would NEVER (knowingly) use a re-recording of a hit during AT40's mono2stereo conversion. If there is any confusion, I make sure I've got the right version by comparing it with the original 45 on the original label.

1979 and 1980 have been played on the same weekend a few times before. Late April, 2012 comes to mind - in fact, I believe that would be the first time that those two were played on the same weekend. You are correct -- the weekend of April 28-29, 2012, Premiere played 4/28/79 and 4/26/80 (that airing of 4/28/79 was the first ever offering of an entire 4-hour show with the first hour optional, btw). The one other time it happened was the weekend of October 27-28, 2018, when 10/27/79 and 10/25/80 were played. Speaking strictly in terms of 'A' shows of course.

4/14/79 was the A show the weekend of April 11-12, so 1977 had the longest drought, A or B. Looks like that ends next week however... And the following week, 1979's drought might end, as that would be the week to play the yet-unaired 6/23/79 show. It's entirely possible we could get the trifecta of June 23rd shows in the coming weeks. While 6/23/84 appears to be almost certain, 6/23/79 would figure to be a good bet as well. 1973 is also due for a spin, and 6/23/73 would be a decent possibility for one of the last two weekends in June along with 1979.

Not sure if the 1973 would be a "B" offering or deferred to the weekend of June 27-28, as it was last played back in 2012. I just hope that we get the 6/23/1979 show.

WSQL, the station in question, (or better said, their computer!) didn't start playing AT40 on Thursday at 7 pm as usual, but instead continued to play music from their library that fit their typical format for an hour. Those of us who were listening noticed that a few of the songs were versions that were not the more familiar versions. The songs had been perhaps re-recorded by the artists or remixed by the labels. The station finally played the show's first two hours before going to the next show in its correct time slot at 10 pm. The songs they played while we waited for the computer to wake up had nothing to do with AT40 and we KNOW that you, Ken, would always give us the most true redux of the show! You still da' man!

For 6/23/79 they could have "Heaven Must Have Sent You" as an extra in memory of Bonnie Pointer.

Here's the optional extras according to jdelachjr2002: 5/24/1975: Hour #1: "Just A Dream" - Jimmy Clanton Hour #2: "Black Friday" - Steely Dan Hour #3: "Why Can't We Be Friends?" - War Flashing back to the 5/24/75 show, did we ever figure out why they stuck the Jimmy Clanton extra in this one? It wasn't originally in this show and seemingly had nothing to do with it. Just curious...strange extra to put in the show instead of song moving up that week's Hot 100.

I think the story on Jimmy Clanton was originally in the show. They just added the song to go along with it.

There was a "where are they now?" story about Jimmy Clanton, though most such segments at the time didn't have a full song played as an extra. I hadn't considered the possibility of Premiere adding the song as an extra along with the story, which was something different for them. On to this week's show (June 11, 1977): Hour #1: "Telephone Line" - Electric Light Orchestra (#81; debuted) Hour #2: "Easy" - The Commodores (#64) Hour #3: "Give A Little Bit" - Supertramp (#66) One change from 2011: "Telephone Line" replaces "Barracuda".

Well, we know that someone on this board is happy with the change😁 Too bad that there could have been another replacement to these extras-I would have selected "Riding The Storm Out" by Reo Speedwagon at #94 which was the "Live" version, not the crappy studio version found on the Harley Davidson Road Songs compilation.
