With Bonnie Pointer recently passing away at the age of 69, as a tribute: if 6/23/1979 gets played, there might be for an OPTIONAL EXTRA Bonnie Pointer's 1979 solo song "Heaven Must Have Sent You"; and if 6/23/1973 or 6/30/1973 gets played the Pointer Sisters 1973 song "Yes We Can Can" might be played as an OPTIONAL EXTRA (Bonnie was a Pointer Sisters member until she quit in the late 1970's).

Don't you mean 6/23 or 6/30 of 1973 instead of 1979? (Regarding the possibility of "Yes We Can Can")? I think that "Heaven Must Have Sent You" would be a great OE choice, as it was coming out around this time in 1979 (though I'm not sure if it was on the chart yet - I seem to remember that it charted in the early fall).

The song debuted on the hot 100 for the week ending 6/16/79. It would make a good choice for an extra.

I've been listening to the 1971 show on Aruba's Hits 100. "Nathan Jones" is one of my favorite songs from that time, but for some reason the vocals sounded different. Did Premier use a rerecording or a remix? It did not sound like a 1971 song vocally. It is possible that AT40 has used a remix 49 years ago...Right after posting this, I discovered that the Doors' "Love Her Madly" sounded different as well. It could be the radio station.

Both "Nathan Jones" and "Love Her Madly" were the original single versions. For it's time, "Nathan Jones" had some pretty state-of-the-1971-art vocal effects, one of the reasons I've always loved that record.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 6/23/79 2nd Guess - 6/23/73
I will guess that these are the two shows for the last two weeks of June, but could also be an A/B combo. If we get 6/23/84 and both of these, we would end up getting all three June 23rd shows in the first Casey era...has it ever happened before where they have played three shows with the same date in the same 1-2 week period?

For the Independence Day weekend, Magic 103.1 will celebrate AT40's 50th birthday with non-stop Casey. American Top 40 all weekend long. Here's a question. What shows would you like me to play? Year End countdowns? Some special? Let me know. Thanks, Ken

It ran on one of the July 4 weekends in the late '70s, if memory serves.

Ken,
I'd love to hear a mono-to-stereo Year End Countdown from 1971 which originally aired the weekend of 01.01.72. I don't think it has been replayed by Premiere but once back in 2008.

For the same weekend in 2016, Ken played that show, then added the next 40 years (1977-2016) and played the #1 songs from those years. Will probably dig those out next month.

Ken-How about airing the top 80 of 1970?

Hi Ken--what about the 1980 Book of Records special? It's one that probably never gets played by Premiere given the percentage of songs that are pre-1970, but a number of 70's songs are included...
