I relistened to 1/6/73 recently (where the song debuted at #40) and I think that had every verse. Just checked that show and it's the 45 edit. I thought that since he got through every hour from 1 A.M. to noon it was the full version, but yes, it runs 7 minutes on the LP compared to 4 minutes on the single.

I was thinking of the "I got some on my finger so I wiped it on the wall" verse (er, ewww!), which was missing this week, but "diggin' like an ol' steam shovel" is nearly as audacious. Also, I loved the bit where Casey (with help from Mae West!) predicted a long life and career yet to come for Elvis. Ooops.

I noticed a sound effect from “Deliverance” at the end of the 3rd optional song, “Dueling Banjos.” As Larry is finishing his back-announce, the banjo music plays again followed by the sound effect we hear when John Voigt slides off the mountain and into the river with the dead hillbilly. I wondered what was going on there. There's a rainstorm sound too, I think? I'm thinking the song was taken directly off the DVD of the movie, rather than the soundtrack album?

All I know is that I don't want to hear that I've got a 'purty mouth'...unless Burt Reynolds with a crossbow is with me. Love that film!

I'll be sure not to eat a Popeyes or Chick-A-Filet sandwich when hearing the first song. But what if you just happen to be in the mood for it? Someone care to let me in on the inside joke?

The lead off single on the countdown from 2/5/77 was a novelty song by a group called Henhouse Five Plus Two-It was a group of chickens clucking their version of Glenn Miller's "In The Mood".

Henhouse Five Plus Two was the brainchild of Ray Stevens.

Normally, I don't post to the 70s AT40 thread, but I'd like to ask a question regarding 1979 shows. At one point, only one show from April 1979 - I believe it was April 14 or 21, 1979 that aired, and nothing else from that month since. I'd like to ask, has Premiere aired any of the other April 1979 shows in recent years? I agree, April 1979 was one of only a few months in the 1970s tgat I would enjoy pre-1980s AT40. Casey did a report about this song and act on the May 28, 1988 broadcast, if I recall. Also featuring clips of the intro and last stanza - the latter before Casey closed out the report. Very surprising it made the top 40.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 2/6/71 2nd Guess - 2/10/79
Going with the same show for a second straight week. 1979 has to get played again before too long as well.

2/10/79 sounds good to me-If that show gets played,2/6/71 would likely be featured as well.
