I myself was listening to the stream to make sure it was working for you and all of a sudden it went dead. PANIC!!! Thank heavens I live close to the studios and got here quickly. Since this was messed up, I'll re-run the show in it's entirety tonight at midnight right after Delilah. Thanks again--I'll tune in around 10:45 Mountain Standard to hear the rest of "Are You Ready" and "Song Of Joy".

OK, Ken, I don't get it--if this is a recreation of the third hour, how did you get the chart movement recap for "Make It With You" at #10? Amazing!

Quick question: The second show (on now on WTOJ) has only two debut songs. During the 1970-88 Casey era, was there ever a week with only one debut song? Pretty sure there was never a week with no new songs. This topic has come up before; see at40fg.proboards.com/thread/3566/debut-on-40-oct-89.

It seems like jmack and blackbowl between them came up with the five single-debut weeks during Casey's tenure: 76/78/80/85/88, as well as the one from 89. Thanks all!

Is it true that the Hot 100 was based on sales and airplay during this time as it says in the clip aired in the third hour of the 1970 show? For some reason I though that the top 40 was a pure sales chart in the early 70s?

Whoa...what a great three hours that was (except for those ten or so minutes the stream was down)! The third hour recreation was masterful. Hats off to Mr. Ken Martin! Superbly done.

For some reason I though that the top 40 was a pure sales chart in the early 70s? There is some controversy or disagreement about this but allegedly the top 50 was based on sales from 1968 to 1973. Casey mentioned the 100 record stores and 54 radio stations in the first 5 shows. But then starting with the 6th show and going forward...way forwatd to May 1975 in fact, he never mentioned airplay when talking about how the Hot 100 was compiled. Great show Ken. And you did good to pull a clip of Casey mentioning the 'Stairsteps' instead of the 5 Stairsteps' which he would finally start saying by the end of its top 40 chart run.

When I pulled stuff, I tried to stay within a week or two of the 2nd show. The Zager and Evan extra came from a show in November and I had to mess with Casey's wording to get him to say "a year ago" instead of "earlier last year".
