What Was The Deal With The Watch?

This has probably been asked before, but...

Before thanking Charlie Tuna at the beginning of the show, Casey would always (or almost always) glance at his watch. Does anyone know why? Was it just for effect, or was he timing something?

Oops - thought this folder was about the TV show.

I think it was for effect-By the way,someone has posted a few "America's Top 10" episodes on You Tube-However,they are not complete-The videos were edited out for the most part.
