For next week's edition of "AT40-The 70's" 3/27 & 3/28:3/27/76. 3/27/1976 was last played in 2019, so that's out of the picture, I guess. Highly likely. Thinking 1976 is more likely for April. |

3/22/75 could work as it was last an A in 2015 and B in 2018. That's the only one of the trio of 1972, 75, and 76--none of which has had an A since January--that could be played, as everything else was either played in the last two years or guest hosted (the 3/25/72 show hosted by Dick Clark, which Premiere did offer as a special after he died in 2012 and the beginning of which was heard in the 2020 AT40 year end show.)
Other possibilities are 3/30/74 and 3/25/78, unplayed since 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Wouldn't be surprised if 1974 and 1978 get paired next weekend.
Still surprised 1975 needs a "B" now...kind of like 1985 needing a "B" a few years back. 🤔

Agreed as previous post--I was OK with the early 70's paired with another show. Am I to understand that only 76, 77 and three hour 78 shows (until October) are standalone shows?

Re: current practice - Hopefully the early 70s won't be harder to come by. In the 80s series, if 1980-1982 don't get offered as "A" shows more often, they won't be heard as much because now even 1988 is a stand-alone. But it appears the opposite is happening with the 70s series, which might work in many listeners' favor. The less stand-alone years there are, the more options offered.
That all said, still scratching my head on 1975. Maybe even 1974...

As of this writing 8:15 pm, 3-28, 1972 and 1975 have not been played since January, so they are the furthest back without play. I am still not believing that 1978 had an A/B or standalone show within 2 weeks! This is the earliest of a repeat year of which I am aware!

Given that now 1970-1975 have a "B", it means we will get one of 1976-1979 every week (either as a standalone of a "B")! So, each of these four years will get selected every four weeks on average. Obviously we won't get each of them at exactly four weeks. So getting selected within 2 or 3 weeks will be more and more common in the future. |

Predicting well get JUNE 20th 1981 this year Rather than June 23, 1984? Could get them both -- June 19th weekend could be 6/20/81, June 26th weekend could be 6/23/84. We are actually loooong overdue for a June 1981 'A' show -- the last time one was played was in 2015 (6/27/81). And in the entire 14-year run of the series, there has yet to be a June 1981 show repeated as an 'A' show believe it or not. |
