I just recently received my American Top 40 The 1980s book that Pete Battistini wrote and just wanted to say that I love it. It is well put together and very informative. The two things I would like to have seen added was one, for each listing where the weekly question is listed (ex - different #1 records with the same title on 01-14-84) it would have been nice to actually see what the answer was. And to a lesser degree maybe also adding the actually songs that debuted and maybe the position instead of just - 'number of debut songs this week : 3'. Just my thought.

I got that book a few weeks ago and have been going through it bit by bit. Today I got to page 300 and in the process found that jdelachjr2002 is Jimmy. Hey Jimmy, looks like you are still listening to SXM at work as you were in 2008. You are probably one of several people on this board that basically did not hear AT40 when it aired in the 70s and 80s. Interesting.
I would love to find out what all the answers to the questions are. cleary71, if you want, I know quite a few of the answers and can relay them to you.

I love the book, great job by Pete. I agree listing the debuts and even the droppers would have been alot of work but cool. Then again, it'd be probably another 500 pages as a result...
Same with questions and answers....
Hey Pete... Idea, a third book, with all the questions and answers, as well as adds and drops for 1970-1988! You could get more stories from us and others strictly about the info. It would be a great asset to anyone interested in music history!

It would be better if it included the top 40 chart each week, or would that be prohibited by Billboard?

It would be better if it included the top 40 chart each week, or would that be prohibited by Billboard? Not sure but Joel Whitburn may have control (publishing rights) over content as far as publishing chart info in book form.
