I don't have an official list, but off the top of my head: 7/11/1970 - 9/27/1975: Original theme (with "screaming cats" I guess!) 10/4/1975 - 1/7/1984: Shuckatoom (but you already knew that ) 1/14/84 - 1/26/85 (or thereabouts): Mid-80's theme with space agey 1984 beginning 2/2/85 - April 1987: Mid-80's theme (different beginning than 1984, but everything else the same) April 1987 - 8/6/88: Late-80's theme (heavy with synthesizers) There are probably those that can better describe all the other themes besides "Shuckatoom", and can probably give more accurate dates for some of the changes, but there's a close approximation for you.

I thought I saw it posted that the different mid-80s theme started on 1/26 rather than 2/2. Or was 2/2 the first show with it? The late-80s theme actually continued under Shadoe up through 2/4/89. It was 2/11 that they changed it; that week's cue sheet opens with a memo addressing the change.

The other posting is probably right about 1/26/85 instead of 2/2/85, and the 2/4/89 show change I'm sure is correct (I don't remember very well what happened after Casey left I have to confess!).

Don't forget the bit of time in September 1979 with the new music that lasted all of a month before they reverted to Shuckatoom. It then became the show's closing theme.
By the way, like many of the new themes they came out with, was this one month opening theme/longtime closing theme ever put on any of the show's album sets as a standalone? I'd absolutely LOVE a copy. Either one, with or without the sax solo.

Heh, I only know the '89 change from browsing through the cue sheets on the Charis website (thus the link to the 2/11 sheet).

The beginning of the 1985 remix of the AT40 opening theme sounds to me like a combination of the original theme and the Shuckatoom theme.

Hi there! I thought that the Moog synth. theme was from around 1970 written by John Kirk(?) produced by TM. Does anyone know the title and artist? Anyone knows how to get a good copy of the jingles and theme. PS. If this is not the correct forum please guide me to me to the correct one. Regards Dyo West Australia

Regards Dyo West Australia The 70s theme was composed by Jim Kirk (not John) and published by Markwater Music, BMI. The cue sheets did not list the title of the 70s theme. Watermark did provide the themes as extra cuts occasionally on the LPs for use in local promos. (I have several of these themes, send me your email in a private post and I'll get them to you.)

An extension to the topic of 1980s theme music ... the cues.
I've asked this in another thread, but the 1982-1983 hour open music (which I guess was quite similar to the hour-end cue used briefly in the spring of 1982) ... how long does it play before the cold end and/or fades?
I guess the best way to describe it is a definite early 1980s theme, with female vocalists "Doo doo-dee-doo-doo; and that it was updated somewhat (no vocalists) in 1984.

I'd absolutely LOVE a copy. Either one, with or without the sax solo. I believe there were three variations of this theme music: A full-length (2:53) version which closed out the AT40's from September 22, 1979 to October 13, 1979, and was used again on the December 22, December 29 (Top 50 of 1979) and January 5, 1980 (Top 50 of the 70s) shows. I seem to recall this version being used on a few other shows as well from early 1980, as well as one from October 25, 1980. Probably the closest thing to a "clean version" I've heard is from the December 22 show. Edit #1, which ran from October 20, 1979 to February 13, 1982. Edit #2, which ran from February 20, 1982 to January 7, 1984. I don't know if any clean versions of either of these "edits" are available anywhere.
