Looking for someone here who has Radio & Records AC charts from the July 1993 - April 1996 period. They are very much needed.

Try contacting the person who put together the site with RR CHR chart data. His website is wweb.uta.edu/faculty/gghunt/charts/chart.html and there's a link there where you can contact him. Maybe he could provide you with some help for the AC charts. The owner of "Pop Radio Top 20" also has some AC charts, you could try to contact him and see if he could help. The site is located at www.popradiotop20.com and there's a link where you could contact him or her. Try Inter-library loan at your university or public library and see if they could borrow RR for those years for you. Casey's Countdown used those charts and was on the air from 1992 to 1998. If someone has a complete collection (I haven't found anyone with all of them) of Casey's Countdown, you could transcribe those shows and get the chart data that way. I only have a few of them so I wouldn't be much help in that regard.

I actually have chatted to that person that owns that R&R chart site a while back but he said he only has CHR info. The AC shows only did the top 20 (or 25 for Casey) and didn't go all the way down to #30. I followed the Dick Clark show back then and do have almost all the top 20 written down. I would need to know every song that debuted from that mid 90s period for this adult contemporary project. Seems like the only way to get all this info is go to a library (or person) that has a Radio & Records archive. Joel Whitburn is probably too blinded to add these mid 90s R&R AC songs (that didn't hit in Billboard) to his research book. I'm just hoping someone out there has a spreadsheet on these R&R AC songs and is willing to share it.

If in your searches, you find a listing of the Rock Charts (Which Billboard had from March 1981 on) or any other Rock charts from as early as the 60's on, please let me know. Thats my project! ;-D

Just to further go on here, Billboard for some reason did not track adult contemporary songs in this period of time from July 1993 to the spring of 1996. Although Billboard did have an adult contemporary chart then it certainly wasn't adult contemporary songs that were on it. Looked like it was adult top 40 to me. For this reason, many many songs (probably at least a hundred titles) from 1993-1996 appeared on R&R AC chart that isn't listed as a Billboard AC hit. So that's why we gotta problem here.

When did Billboard split the Hot AC (Adult Top 40) from AC? R&R did so at some point in 1994, after that the AC chart got softer. One of these days, I'll post a Casey's Countdown playlist in the Westwood One section from 1996 (I don't have any Casey's Countdown shows from 1995) and we can see how much softer the song titles seem.

^ Billboard began their Adult Top 40 chart on 3/16/96 (R&R's started in April 1994, the same week they split CHR into Pop and Rhythmic). I agree with mrpopnsoul, Billboard was late to the game in acknowledging the difference in AC and Hot AC.
