Check www.oldradioshows.com. They have the year end charts for AT40 broadcasts and some weekly shows as well. Your subject asks for the AT40 Top 100 of 1999. That year, Casey only counted down the Top 40 of that year since AT40 also broadcast a Top 40 of the 1990s and the Y2K Countdown (events that shaped popular music). The Top 40 of 1999 can also be found at the above site. Radio and Records was responsible for the charts played by Casey's Top 40(1989-1998) and AT40 from 1998-2003. From my best knowledge, they probably didn't publish a Top 100 at that time but you can check old issues of Radio and Records at a library near you and see. Radio and Records is not very forthcoming about that sort of information besides what they publish on their website (this really doesn't matter now since they are merged with Billboard and Billboard requires a paid subscription to view its archives), so you may not get anywhere by emailing them. They have, in possible conjunction with Premiere, tried and succeeded in closing down many of the public chart sites that included charts of shows played on Casey's/American Top 40.

Does anyone have the AT40 Aug 14 1999 show or the chart used for that show? I need the chart for a project I am working on.
Thanks
John

I taped the 1999 countdown off air but when I edited it, I slightly altered it. Heres another link to the chart www.mnet.ne.jp/~hbr/at40/1999.htm and then heres a link to the countdown chart that *I* slightly altered: dreaming.org/~digital/99.htmWhat I mean by slightly altering it is that I increased the countdown to a top50 show, edited the show as if Casey had done a top50, w/ Casey intro'in an outro'in songs etc., an moved a few songs around. For the most part though, its the actual broadcast, w/ only a few modifications.

Thanks for that chart but still what was the 100th song of that year? Technically there wasn't one, as AT40 only did a Top 40 that year and R&R didn't start publishing a Top 100 of the year until 2000. Prior to that, the length of the R&R yearend chart matched the year (Top 99 of 1999, Top 80 of 1980, etc.). I do recall that someone here compiled their own Top 100 of 1999 using a point system that seemed to match R&R's, and I think Jewel's "Down So Long" was at #100.

The reason why AT40 did only a Top 40 YE chart has nothing to do with R&R, but with the fact they did a second show with the Top 40 of the decade the other weekend. They have done it the same way at WW1 at the end of 1989. There was never an additional time like AT40 did from 83 til 93. They stayed on their 4 hours schedule, even after the move-over from WW1 to AMFM and Premiere.
