Hi AT40 Fans,
Wish we were all on Twitter. Anyway as always when I want both the 70s and the 80s shows on a given weekend, I have to do the "AT40 Shuffle". So here's my plan for this week:
I've got many shows from 1983 (my favorite year), but need to fill in my 70s collection a bit. Since KKLZ - my local terrestrial station plays the 70s with the optional extras, that's the simple solution. High quality, with optional extras.
So ever the moving target - the 80s show. I had been going with WRIP, and then another internet show for the 70s, since both WRIP and KKLZ broadcast AT40 simultaneously. However last time I used WRIP they played no optional extras. Haven't checked that, but that's usually a deal breaker.
Pizzzzza recommends WNNS with a 128khz stream. I just checked it and it sounds really good. But no optional extras. So if I go with WNNS at 8PM (PDT) today (Saturday), then WFMX for the optional extras, I should have the 80s squared away well before the terrestrial recording of KKLZ 70s show at 7AM (PDT). If the 80s show fails for any reason, I can go with Jack FM (which plays extras) later that evening, or even the Monday Youngstown Ohio stream.
WHEW! As much as I love these shows, I actually look forward to weekends when one or the other is out of my date range - i.e. very early 70s or after 12/31/1984. As this week neither show falls out of my range, I'm doing the "AT40 Shuffle!"

Like you I love a "good hustle"...that's why I've got 3 laptops working this weekend. Two for each show and one doing a backup....plus editing commercials on the fly. It's a labor of love man!!!

Got WNNS going right now cause my stream for WMMX dropped overnight last night and I could only pick the show up at #24. WNNS has good audio and does a nice job with the shows--they do play the extras...most of the time. I have had shows where they played all four extras and others where they only played one. Wish they would make up their mind!

I recorded off of WMMX, and it came out flawless. They even didn't mess up the beginning for the second week in a row!

I start 6am on sat morning with AT40 the70's on WUPE in Mass. (they play the whole closing theme for those who are interested) then have a hour to edit, then @ 10am it's time for the current AT40 from Alberta,so by 2pm I am done...Unless something goes wrong and it usually does, I have all weekend to fix the segments that need repairing. The streams are ok but Vegas KKLZ is one of the best I heard.

I normally just listen to the 80s show on WQSR Sunday nights. However, when something prohibits me from listening, I have to find time throughout the weekend to listen to the show, sometimes on multiple stations an hour here and an hour there.
