After playing back the at40 show with guest host Selena Gomez , I wasn't impressed. Even Though she is the next up and coming star,(I Guess) she was boring right from the start. When she started hour 1 she says she is going to tell us about what she's going to do this summer. The show was all about her. Bring back the real DJ's when Ryan is out for a week.

Martha Quinn would've been perfect! She's totally lively even when she stepped in for the Shadoe in 1993. Yeah, unfortunately we can't even have it in that way. You have to remember these listeners probably range from 12 - 24 years old females. Just listen to all of the hits in the countdown let alone the Mediabase hitlist. I think the woman played an interesting role hosting AT40 last weekend, I sure hope my employees enjoyed the show. I play AT40 for them during the late night shifts and they seem to enjoy them. I'll ask 'em what their thoughts were. I'd love to hear opinions from others on how she handle the co-hosting duties, anyone out there? Yours, Josh Joel

Josh Joel hit the nail on the head...Selena was perfect for the audience for whom AT40 is currently geared. Which makes me wonder, though...did she do the HAC show too? Probably as it's easier to just use the same guest host for both shows, but obviously the argument Josh Joel and I are making wouldn't hold up in this case for HAC.
Those of us who were listening to AT40 in 1993 when Martha Quinn sat in for Shadoe may still be listening to AT40 in 2011, but we sure aren't the target demo...

Selena Gomez is a star on the Disney Channel. Unfortunately for others like her is that once they reach adulthood, Disney moves on to the next up-and-coming teen.
Personally, I did not listen to the AT40 show. However, I am not that surprised that she just talked about herself. On those Radio Disney countdown shows, everything that matters is their celebrity guests. The countdown there is almost secondary.

All the AT40 shows with a celebrity host is a show all about him or her (it´s all about promos) and it seems Ryan is on holiday the same week all those celebrities are going to release their work the following week . It looks all so manu.

Ummm.....you just described why even if I liked the music, I would never have gotten hooked on AT40 if it had been done that way back in the day. Kind of reminds me of what happened to MTV. You could not pay me to watch MTV or listen to AT40 the last several years.

This weekend both AT40 shows are hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and he looks like a professional and decent broadcaster. Almost a Ryan´s clon.
It´s good when Ryan is covered by a real DJ rather than a promo wannabe who is in the show for talking about his or her career rather than the 40 singles.
