As of today, Clearchannel is simulcasting 5 of their radio stations as opposed to the formats they were using up until now: •KIIS-FM, a Top 40 station based in Los Angeles, CA is now simulcasting on XM Channel 11; • Z100, the nation’s largest CHR/Top 40 station based in New York City, is now simulcasting on XM Channel 12; • WLTW Lite FM, an adult contemporary station in NYC, is now simulcasting on XM Channel 13; • WSIX, a country station based in Nashville, TN is now simulcasting on XM Channel 57; and • WGCI in Chicago, an urban station, is now simulcasting on XM Channel 163. I bring this up in this thread because I'm not sure if any of these stations (mainly thinking about WLTW) air either one of the retro American Top 40 shows now. I know they used to air AT10. I may be in the minority, but I like this move by CC. You can read the whole story at: www.businesswire.com/news/home/20110607007305/en/Clear-Channel-Extends-Reach-Iconic-Radio-Brands

Nope, none of them carry either.
KIIS is best known as the radio home for all things Seacrest.

I am sort of for it--my only reservation is that in simulcasting stations like this, SXM ends up also simulcasting the advertisements they play (though I haven't had the opportunity to listen to these channels to see if commercials are also being simulcast). I used to like the music played on the Mix 22 channel on SXM (prior to the re-channeling a few weeks ago), but it's hard for me to listen to stations that play commercials when I am paying a monthly subscription for commercial free radio. That being said, if they play the Premiere AT40 shows on these stations, I could probably overlook that issue.

What do they do when they have commercials on terrestrial FM outless?. Do they play anything else like commercial radio does in UK satellite?.
As far as I know the 2 first ones take AT40 Ryan Seacrest.

As far as I know the 2 first ones take AT40 Ryan Seacrest. I haven't had the chance to listen in my car today which is where I have my radio. But I saw on an XM fan board that someone was listening to KIIS and they played a song during the break. As far as commercials, the CC owned channels are not bound to the no commercial policy. They own the channels and can program them however they wish. They have had commercials running on the "exclusive" to XM channels for several years now. If you go to SXM's website and look at the XM program guide listing they are all under the category of "More." They did this specifically because those channels run commercials. I don't think SXM's happy about them doing so but since CC owns them there isn't much they can really do about it. It's a shame though, I kinda liked hearing other areas local commercials. But I assume you don't really hear them on the I Heart Radio app either which may be the same feed coming on the satellite radio now also.

Thanks.
I thought KIIS FM was already on Sirius XM, or it was included time ago, under the labell of KIIS FM Sirius or so, completely commercial free.
In the UK they fill the commercial break in commercial satellite radio, but no for the commercials themselves, but for the markets. A local commercial, for example for London´s market, it has not to be heard in another city and satellite radio does not know fronteirs.

A local commercial, for example for London´s market, it has not to be heard in another city and satellite radio does not know fronteirs. When XM began in I think 2001, it simulcasted KIIS. They did at times air a song in the commercial breaks (although you would still hear a large portion of local ads also), but it was the same handful of songs that would repeat several times during the day, "Genie in a Bottle" immediately comes to mind. There were also a couple of commercials for other Kiss stations owned by CC in other markets that woud get played in many of these breaks all day long too. I don't think anyone listening then will ever forget the lyric "in the valley of the sun...." This continued until late in 2003 when it became an in-house Kiss branded channel exclusively produced for XM. When it first changed, I believe they still aired Rick Dees in the Morning, and when Seacrest started his morning show they aired it live for a couple of months as well. Then that ceased also. They claimed they were going to bring the Weekly Top 40 back as soon as they worked all the kinks out with the new channel but that never materialized. I think I remember someone on here stating they ran the first half of the Top 100 of 2003 on New Years Eve or Day, but the second half and all subsequent shows never aired on it. Shortly thereafter, Dees and CC parted ways so there was probably no effort in pushing the countdown on the air then.

I pray every night for a satellite system like Sirius XM arrives in Europe. I dont mind paying satellite radio if only the system has the same offer ( the same radio channels ) Sirius XM has.
We have satellite radio in Europe. A lot a radio stations on Ku band satellites, but they dont give the contents we love to listen to in these forums. I mean americana contents .
Maybe if WorldSpace Europe or Ondas Media would offer the same thematic radio channels you have in The States, we will subscribe without a doubt. ( But no if they would offer boring and idiot radio with the european taste).
So maybe in a future satellite radio in L Band, S Band or whatever, copying that american formula and offering that existing channels , would start in Europe via Ondas Media or whatever, but meanwhile satellite radio is boring, fortunately it´s free.

The sad thing is all people do here is complain about the music playlists on satellite radio. I admit XM's has shrunk big time since Sirius took it over, but it's still better than listening to commercials every 20 minutes or so. I also am of the opinion that SXM working WITH major radio companies and giving them the ability to put some of their biggest and most popular channels on the satellite is also a good idea. You can compete but still benefit from the new technology. CC pays for it's channels. If the bandwidth is there, or if it will be expanded one day, sell some to Cox if they want it and they can put 4 or 5 of their best up, same for Cumulus/CBS. They make money from the content provider, those who want to hear those particular stations no matter where they go will sub to SXM (not to Cox, CC, or Cumulus), and Sirius has more profit to show for it. Again, I know I am in the very, very small minority in wishing for this.

Paul, I always laugh when I read the facebook boards for Spectrum or Alt Nation. Listless posters with smartphones complaining about a song like "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People being played for too long - as the band and song are being added all over terrestrial radio - proving SXM has great programming over NPR funded "music snobs". Our "public radio" station, "The Current" has 4-6 month old SXM songs all over their current "chart".
