The legendary BB King had an absolute wreck of a performance at the National Memorial Day Concert in Washington. The trouble began when, for some reason, his guitar was not plugged in. As his band played he appeared to be trying to make the best of it by getting the crowd into a shout and chanting one line over and over. To me he seemed incoherent and desperate. His performance was cut off early as concert co-host Joe Mantegna started introducing the next segment while the band was still playing. Watching it on PBS I felt sad. I hope this was not a sign of something seriously wrong!
